"Pray for us in our hour of death." May Our Blessed Mother be with Terri and may she show her to the open arms of Our Lord.

Good-bye Terri, we love you.

Apparently SCOTUS doesn't feel that any improper rulings have been made by the lower courts in that matter.

Absent an opinion from the Court, it is error to attribute a reason to SCOTUS refusal to hear a case. All we know is they refused. We don't know why.

Refusal to hear is not an affirmation, and those who spin refusal to hear as an affirmation are misleading.

What would be interesting would be if someone were to step forward and press charges against Terri for a crime she commited before this all happened.
Wouldn't the state then be obligated to arrest (take into custody) Terri?

Because legislators tend to only act when the spotlight is on. When the spotlight is off, they do whatever the heck they want....

I noticed that too. What we have here is a blatant pissing contest in which the elected branch of government has been bitch slapped by the judicial branch. Guess who we have just discovered runs the country? Why do you think dems are so hell bent on just who gets into the judiciary?

At this point however, it is painfully obvious that lobbyists and PAC's should stop funding political races and just go out and buy a judge instead. I hope congress sees how useless they are.

"Within the law". If you don't see that the president and especially the governor could act within the law you are not seeing the whole picture. JINO Greer is not a King, though he is being given deference as a dictator.

State Troopers, dispatched by the Governor of Florida

Federal Marshals, dispatch by the President of the United States

Failing those things, the death of Terri Schiavo.

I fear that it is the latter at this stage.

Greer, Michael Schiavo, or both? Both of them will face judgement one day.

Agreed. It is for that reason, I've begun to pray for them. As difficult as it is, I believe they may need our prayers more than Terri does.

I pray for them also. I pray that God will save them and change them now, or if they refuse to be saved and changed, that God will kill them both before they cause any others to go to hell with them

Action alert ping!

Schiavo family spokesman, Randall Terry, calls for Gov. Bush to use his Constitutional powers to take Terri into custody. Randall asks that the public call the Governor NOW and ask him the following:

"PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR LEGAL AUTHORITY, AND TAKE
TERRI SCHIAVO INTO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY RIGHT AWAY."

"Is there no mechanism to stop a runaway court in this land?"

Yes, there is. It's called the appeals process, and that has run its course. Judges are overturned all the time. In this case, Greer was not overturned.

What there is not is a way for the Executive to simply override a judicial decision. There simply is not. If there were, we would have a different system of government than we have. Our Constitution would no longer apply.

Many people disagree with the judgments in this case. Many agree with them. The fact is that the appeals process is finished with the SCOTUS refusing to hear the case.

The mechanism you asked about has run its course.

Why do the actions of the SCOTUS remind me so much of Pontius Pilate turning to wash his hands after rejecting the chance to intervene in the judicial and social merits of the case against Jesus?

Because it is essentially the same thing.

Welcome to Free Republic!

Yep! Greer needs to be reined in. An impeachment would do nicely.

Randall Terry could end up being the reason for Terri not winning this if it turns out to be true that he turned down the offers of lawyers experienced with federal matters, they offered their services pro bono. If that is true, then point the finger of blame elsewhere.

We no longer have a Constitutional Republic. We have a Judicial Ogliarchy. What Thomas Jefferson feared 200 years ago has come to pass.

Well then you're a bit loopy. Jeb has done more to save Terri Schiavo than you have. Get a grip.

The fact of the matter is, sometimes we lose battles. I am sad today, but the last thing I am going to do is blame the conservatives.

The will of the people was made clear by the legislature and the executive branches. The judiciary, as wrong as they are, has chosen to ignore the will of the people.

Now then, our job as political activists is to work to change the judiciary. After many years of work, the Florida legislature finally became Republican--though not entirely conservative. The same has happened in Washington, D.C. This is a good thing.

Attacking each other is just what the liberals and pro-death lawyers want us to do.

I won't be a part of it.

Thank you -- was beginning to think I was seeing something the wrong way! I couldn't believe it -- they had a roadmap to plead the case and blew it! My heart did the same thing! Don't know who was calling the shots on the legal team for the Federal Courts, but they are at fault on this as well while an innocent woman is starved to death.
