There is news. Read post 4,424. The hearing tonight went terribly. Not just because of the judge, but because of bad legal representation by Gibbs. This is NOT about whether Terri is being murdered, That is not a good legal argument. Congress passed a law requiring the Federal Court to do a de novo review of the facts of the case. Such as is Terri in PVS and did she wish to die this way. That is what is in dispute and what Gibbs should argue. He did not and we most probably lost the hearing. That is news.

Praise, pray all you want. That is a passive response. I prefer action. We might have won this if we had better lawyers that concentrated on winning legal issues. Gibbs & Co were in over their heads. We needed a David Bois or even Alan Dershowitz. Maybe you should have prayed for better legal council. Maybe we lose on these kind of important issues because many on our side are so busy praying, which is a passive activity, rather then taking real action.

I don't live in Florida, SoCar. So I am limited in what I can physically DO.

I have read and read to educate myself about the facts.

I have informed others about the facts.

I have e-mailed my Senators, my representative, the President, the Florida Senators, the Florida Representatives.

I have called DCF.

I have e-mailed and called some more.

I don't have money to send to buy lawyers, nor would I know who the Schindlers have gotten to represent them.

And, I pray.

If more people understood what it means to pray and what power there is in prayer, our country wouldn't be in the mess it is in right now.

As for action, I'm all for it. I even spoke of it earlier in my American Revolution and Patrick Henry posts.

God stopped several of us in the middle of what we were doing by impressing upon our hearts to pray. Every now and then it is good to be still and know that He is God.

I prefer action.

Just out of curiosity, what action have YOU taken?

Out of respect for those in this thread who have labored to the BEST OF THEIR ABILITY to make a difference, those who HAVE stayed up ALL NIGHT to pray for Terri, her family, her family's counsel, their fellow FReepers and who have kept watch and us informed with their research, who have participated in protests, and so forth and so on, I won't say what I wish to say.

What you are doing is trolling and baiting. As you can very well see, no one here is responsing to your requests to "debate and discuss". You have been informed that there are other threads on this forum in which active discussion is taking place. Instead you choose to criticize these good people for doing the only thing that they can do at this point. That is offensive and uncalled for.

Until this thread takes a different course, those here are CHOOSING to pray. If that is not to your liking, find another party. What is so hard about that that you can't understand it?

All these people here praying have been working 'round the clock emailing, calling and faxing congressmen, governors, the President, etc. urging them to save Terri. Many here have offered up options that could have been taken. That they were not used, or that we were thwarted by a judiciary with an agenda of its own does not mean we didn't do enough.

Debate and discussion has so far yielded nothing in the form of saving Terri's life. Does that mean you should debate and discuss less?

To: SoCar; Brad's Gramma

I don't think prayer is a passive activity. And we DID take what you call "REAL" action! We've done all Brad's Gramma said, phoned, faxed, emailed. Some of us are even at the hospice right now. But you weren't here when we were doing that for two days.

We also had no control over the lawyers in the case.

I am not going to get into an argument with you about prayer...I know prayer's worth and you don't feel the same, but I DO take offense at being told we haven't done anything.

Oh, no. It was said over and over again where Gibbs went wrong the first time. Everyone anticipated he corrected his initial errors.

Are you saying he didn't?
