I truly do not want to sound stupid but.......what does pinging mean? What does it do? Why do we do it? and How do we do it?

A ping is just a text alert - a linked message to someone that will lead them back to a thread.

Pinging means I'm calling your attention to a specific post ... something that's interesting or needs some action. Some FReepers have extensive ping lists for such purposes. When you're pinged, it will register as a New Post to You on your Forum page ... that's your red alert!
