I am not blessed with the gift of faith, but I am still a relatively happy chap. I try despite all to do what is right, as I see the right, much of which of course due to my upbringing and culture, which of course is suffused by values that emanate from Christ and other serious men.

The notion of Christ being merely another "serious man" among the great teachers of values brings to mind a famous response to that very idea from C.S. Lewis:

"I am trying to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him, 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the sort of thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg -- or He would be the devil of hell. You must make a choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse.... let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." -- C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

PS - Heard you on Hewitt's show. Bravo! I only wish the Schindlers had someone of your caliber as their legal rep.

All the best,
Aaron Herald

He has even less physical mobility than Terri

Stephen Hawking is a brilliant scientist, who can communicate. Your statement is simply incorrect.

Notice how there is nothing whatsoever in either Hawking's brilliance or his ability to speak which in any way invalidates the simple, inarguable f-a-c-t that he absolutely does, in fact, possess less physical mobility than does Terri Schiavo. Your statement is simply a steaming pile.

I wish the parents all the luck in the world but I've lost faith in the system. The real problem is how opinionated and arrogant people can be, I doubt there was any chance Judge Greer would ever change his mind. I hope Jeb Bush takes Terri into protected custody. I know that if everyone acted above the law when they deemed it necessary laws would be meaningless, but with a woman being starved to death under guard this is a time for bold action.

"6. LIMITATIONS. This section does not limit in any way the authority of the court or a criminal justice officer, or any other duly appointed official, to intervene in emergency circumstances under existing statutes. This section does not limit the authority of any person to file a petition for guardianship under chapter 744."

This final paragraph sounds like Jeb Bush's RESUME and job description for this week. He is the chief official of the state! As elected, he could probably appoint himself, who'd be able to stop him from doing so? Emergency appointment....or he could appoint a deputy.

You post a picture of Hawking in an electric wheel chair, then contend that he enjoys less mobility than TS?

What's the matter with you?

CS Lewis is a giant he brought me back together with God.

He did the same for me, friend. Years ago, as I thumbed through a copy of Mere Christianity, it was that precise quote which I posted to Torie which literally ignited my return to a genuine faith in Christ. An electric moment, so to speak. Up until that point my "intellect" had been a sort of barrier to genuine faith. Lewis' unassailable reasoning penetrated that wall and set in motion the transformation of my intellect and logic from barriers to faith to building blocks of faith.

No. I "contend" that he enjoys less physical mobility than does Terri Schiavo. P-h-y-s-i-c-a-l m-o-b-i-l-i-t-y is a recognized medical term, with a clear and definite definition: "Physical mobility means your ability to use your body to move, do physical activities and complete physical tasks." (Research here, for example.)

Note that nowhere does the medical profession view a patient's wheelchair as an actual part of his/her own body, in determining the actual, concrete extent of their physical mobility.

If you don't actually have Clue One as to what you're talking about: ask.

You are entitled to your "contention," no matter how wrong it is.

no matter how wrong it is.

Such a graceless concession, upon finding one's self thoroughly out-gunned. The entire membership of the American Medical Association is heaving a huge, collective sigh of relief over the news of your acknowledgment even as we speak, doubtless.

Good grief.

Both Bushes wimped here while appearing to "err on the side of life".

No they didn't. They did all they could. And they're still working on it. I am doing what I can: I'm praying. Please do the same for Terri.

Even if he could, he won't.

He has to worry about what the international elites would think and if it passes the "global test."

Saving one innocent disabled woman from being executed by the courts is not worth risking his standing with his international buddies.

"Just because it is a law doesn't mean it's right."

AMEN!

If it is "legal" to execute, by court order, an innocent disabled woman - one who has not been proven to be in a PVS beyond a shadow of a doubt - by dehydration and starvation on HERESAY evidence, then there is no morality behind the law.

It appears the Supreme Court has ruled before that it is legal to do this.

If this does not scream out for getting Bush's judicial appointments through, then nothing will.

I know there is no guarantee about how judges will rule once they are on the bench and part of the good ole boy network of judges, but at least we have a better shot of saving this country from total judicial tyranny if we get Bush's judges in.

and that they'd decide fast since Terri is in jeopardy.

He is correct. I don't know who said all seven had to agree. If it was said ,it is probably some more bullshit that the main stream media have been putting out. The mainstream media have lied from the beginning.

I had agonized over why so many people who do not even know her, a lot of whom are members of this forum, are so determined to kill her. I even asked some of those on this formum that question.

Coming home from church it hit me like a ton of bricks. Governor Bush interveined and then President Bush interveined.

The Bush haters want to murder her to spite Governor Bush and President Bush.

This type of individuals are beyond help. Divine or secular.

Greer will just read the testimony again by the Shindler's own lawyer who said that there was no PVS. Their lawyers sucked! Yesterday, as well, Shindler's lawyer took forever...
