Camilla Parker Bowles does not want to take the title of Queen when the Prince of Wales becomes King, Clarence House insisted today.
She will be known as the Princess Consort when the Prince succeeds to the throne, Communications Secretary Paddy Harverson said.
Mr Harverson firmly denied claims that the Household had misled the public and said the matter had been made clear from the beginning.
“Mrs Parker Bowles’s wishes have been made clear from the start that she does not wish to take the title of Queen and the Prince is in full agreement,” he said.
The Government yesterday confirmed that Camilla would automatically become Queen when the Prince accedes to the throne, unless there was a change in legislation.
But Mr Harverson said that both Clarence House and the Government agreed that Camilla could still choose to take on the title Princess Consort instead without a change in the law.
He said: “The implication of some of today’s media reporting is that Mrs Parker Bowles would have to be called Queen unless there is legislation.
“This is incorrect and not in accordance with the Government’s advice.
“Mrs Parker Bowles can, as she wishes, be referred to as Princess Consort, rather than Queen, without legislation.
“Legislation would only be required if it was deemed necessary to confirm formally that she should not have the title and status of Queen.”
That's a smart PR move.
I hope Shep Smith covers it on The Fox Report tonight. Maybe even BOR will do his entire show about it.

It doesnt matter what she wants to be call.....the law states she will be Queen.....they need to change the law.
Unrelated, but figured I'd mention: I took a tour of the Ben and Jerry's factory in VT (yeah I know, hippie to the max but...mmm...ice cream...) and the tour guide said that they had a contest in the UK to name a new flavor. Among the _unsuccessful_ entries:

That Consort title is a step up from Princes Horsefaced Mistress or the Princes Butt Ugly Concubine.
Prince Charles should never be allowed to ascend to the throne based on having proven extremely bad taste in women!
I think the title of 'Her Royal Bow Wow' would be more in line.

Translation: She can bloody well call herself the Lady of Spain if she wants, just so as we all know she's really the Queen.
