Syria says U.S. inciting trouble in Middle East

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Moallem says the United States is instigating trouble among Israel's Arab neighbors to serve Israeli interests.

"I do not think that Lebanon and Syria would be in a trap unless there was a U.S. scheme to instigate trouble in Israel's neighboring Arab countries in order to serve Israeli interests," Beirut daily As-Safir Monday quoted Moallem as saying Monday.

In Algiers for an Arab summit that opens Tuesday, Muallem said: "By instigating problems in the region, the U.S. will help Israel complete the construction of the separation barrier and deny the Palestinian people their legitimate rights."

Moallem denied Syria had a hand in the Feb. 14 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, saying, "Syria was greatly affected by Hariri's slaying and lost an ally and partner."

"The accusations are unfounded ... No charges can be considered unless there is evidence to back them up," he added.

The multi-sectarian Lebanese opposition has blamed Syria and the Syrian-backed regime of Lebanese President Emile Lahoud for Hariri's slaying in a massive Beirut car bombing.

By golly, yes we are! For the good of the US, the Jews, and just as importantly, for the good of the arab peoples.

Oh that troublesome freedom and democracy! We really should stop trying to "force" happiness and prosperity upon an oppressed people.

Well, if Syria says it, it MUST be true.

They haven't seen trouble yet. Let us open up a large can of whoop ass on them before they start screaming like little girls.

They blow up the former President of Lebanon, and accuse us of inciting trouble. Pretty ironic.

I can't believe they are blaming Israel for the Lebanese people wanting Syria out of their country.

I think dropping 100 MOABs on your backwater country would be "inciting trouble". Why not wait to complain then?

Well, if anyone knows about inciting trouble in the Middle East, it's Syria.

Yada Yada Yada... All of our problems ...Yada Yada ...because of US scheme to serve Israeli interests ...Yada Yada Yada.

They never get tired of playing the same old tune over and over again do they? They really should try to be a bit more creative and come up with some new reason why they are oppressed.

Their real problem at the moment is that people in the region are waking up and realizing the oppression is actually coming from the Dictators, Monarchists, Thugs and Tyrants. They seem to be hoping that if they scream the "Zionist plot to rule the world" mantra loud enough it will save their hides. Unfortunately the people whom they are hoping it will impact are numb from hearing it far too long and aren't buying it unquestioningly anymore.
