Michael mentions that he heard a strong last gasp coming from Terri that night. I think Michael thought she was DEAD.

I agree. According to Dr. Hammesfahr, when Michael called Terri's father he said that she was dead, not that she had collapsed. Bob Schindler said, "call 9-1-1!" and hung up the phone and called Bobby, who lived near Terri and Michael.

Bobby and the paramedics arrived almost simultaneously, and found Terri lying face-down in the hallway, gasping for breath. Terri's neck did look abnormal to the doctors, but apparently nobody said it looked like strangulation marks. So perhaps Michael smothered her into unconsciousness, perhaps while holding her by the neck, until he thought she was dead. That would explain how she could have anoxia-induced brain damage without evidence of strangulation, and without evidence of MI on her EKG and cardiac enzymes.

Thanks. I didn't know Michael had called Mr. Schindler and described Terri as being dead. How about that?
