It's good to play 'devil's advocate'. You are doing a very good job of being objective.

I've been asking people, "Did his tone shift as though he were role-playing the parents?"
If his tone shifted, then yes, he was imitating them and 'role-playing' what they would say.
If not, then I believe he was spouting off about his thoughts without carefully thinking back about what lies he needs to remember. Regardless of what was said previously,
he has 'her wishes' on his mind. It's a flowing conversation.
It almost seems to me that Larry King jumped in and changed the subject to cover for him.
if you heard it... there would be no doubt in your mind that he was quoting Terri's parents and not himself.
