Right...but if you have ever read a court opinion you will notice that it is usually filled with tons of case law. That is research work and it takes time.

True, but the normal course of action in the face of immediate irreparable harm to one party would be to issue a momentary injunction to protect that party for the time required to do more evaluation. Unless the judge somehow thinks rehydrating Terri and then re-dehydrating her would do more harm than letting her dehydration continue apace.
