E-mail I just sent to FoxNews' Shepard Smith following his dicussion with Judge Napalitano on Studio B, 2:45 CST, 3/21:

In your discussion with Judge Napolitano regarding the Terri Schiavo case the main point you both kept emphasizing was that this was already settled by the courts.  No one should challenge the courts, once they’ve made their rulings.  The courts rule “uber alles.”

Well, that last phrase is not thrown in gratuitously.  Have you ever heard of the Nuremberg Trials?  Of the “Doctor’s Trial?”

Here’s a rather nice site that lays out the various war crimes trials and, in particular, a discussion of what has been called “The Doctor’s Trial.”

http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/nuremberg/NurembergDoctorTrial.html

It’s from the law school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.  This isn’t some “loose cannon” internet conspiracy site.

Here’s part 9 of count two of the indictment:

9. Between September 1939 and April 1945 the defendants Karl Brandt, Blome, Brack, and Hoven unlawfully, willfully, and knowingly committed war crimes, as defined by Article II of Control Council Law No. 10, in that they were principals in, accessories to, ordered, abetted, took a consenting part in, and were connected with plans and enterprises involving the execution of the so-called "euthanasia" program of the German Reich in the course of which the defendants herein murdered hundreds of thousands of human beings, including nationals of German-occupied countries. This program involved the systematic and secret execution of the aged, insane, incurably ill, of deformed children, and other persons, by gas, lethal injections, and diverse other means in nursing homes, hospitals, and asylums. Such persons were regarded as "useless eaters" and a burden to the German war machine. The relatives of these victims were informed that they died from natural causes, such as heart failure. German doctors involved in the "euthanasia" program were also sent to Eastern occupied countries to assist in the mass extermination of Jews.

With the exception of lying to the family, how does Judge Greer’s decision differ from this program?

These doctors were found guilty of committing war crimes.  This practice was condemned as a crime against humanity.

And the other famous result of the Nuremberg trials?  “Just following orders,” the moral equivalent of “the court has ruled, I must not interfere,” is definitely not a defense.

New tagline. My other one was "Would you have starved Ronald Reagan?"

I know this has been said many ways but the really sick thing is if we were starving a terrorist to get him to tell us about a plot to kill millions, his tube would have been reinstalled by a judge in seconds before any questions were asked.

Freepers, please do not contact judges! Contact Jeb Bush or GWB or senators or congressmen, but please do not contact judges. It infuriates them and could push things against Terri. PLEASE, please, do not go the route of contacting this or any judge.

Sean Hannity interviewed a Nobel candidate on Terri's condition. He was represented as a expert in PVS, and he said that she wasn't in such a state - that she was conscious and could be rehabilitated to a significantly better condition. He stated that MS stopped any attempts at therapy after he obtained the malpractice settlement, and that prior to the settlement Terri was walking using parallel bars and beginning to understand and communicate. This puts MS into a criminal class of such a conniving and nefarious ilk as to dismiss his standing entirely. The criminals in this matter should be treated in the most just manner. It makes me sick that such people should be able to obtain their goals using our judicial system.

It's interesting to read in the Bible that near the end of the crucifixion, the soldiers took a sponge and dipped it in vinegar.......and raised it to the lips of Jesus who had cried out "I thirst".

No one is allowed to wet the lips of Terri, not even on this upcoming Good Friday. Not even as she thirsts.

Does anyone remember Sunny Von Bulow who was put in a coma by an overdose of insulin by her then husband Claus Von Bulow?
Sunny is still alive 25 years later in a hospital in New York City in a deep coma or PVS and will never come out of it. Her children have been paying for her care for all of these years and I am sure she has a feeding to help keep her alive. Yet I haven't heard anyone saying that Sunny Von Bulow should have her tube pulled and die.
Yet the majority of people in these polls feel Terri Schiavo should die. Now why is that?
Now I watched the O'Reilly Factor tonight, the first few minutes during the Talking Points segment.
Now according to O'Reilly only doctors should be be allowed to make the determination of whether a person in PVS should live or die. In fact if I got the drift of his argument if the Doctors feel there is no hope then anyone on a feeding tube, respirator, etc. should have the plug pulled and die regardless of what the family wants.
I was actually surprised at O'Reilly's point of view since he claims to be a devout Catholic and says life is precious to him.
This is the real slippery slope we are on with the State and Doctors making the call of who lives and dies if they are in a coma or PVS. I don't think the public really understands this.
But even if it's decided to pull the plug and let someone die would anyone really want their loved one to suffer and die from starvation. My God we treat out pets better than that. At least go on and give a lethal injection and get it over with, don't drag it out and make people suffer.
Terri Schiavo may be in a PVS of some sort but how does anyone know that deep down om some primitive level she doesn't have some cognitive sense or ability, the answer is we don't and to condemn this woman to a fate that any prisoner on death row doesn't have is cruel and unusual punishment by any definition.
She should have her shot at life and to be with her family that love her and want to care for her. Her husband can and should walk away from this if he doesn't want to help, but to persist like he has to have her killed raises a lot more questions than we have answers for.

"Euthanasia" Killings in Nazi Germany

Forced sterilization in Germany was the forerunner of the systematic killing of the mentally ill and the handicapped. In October 1939, Hitler himself initiated a decree which empowered physicians to grant a "mercy death" to "patients considered incurable according to the best available human judgment of their state of health." The intent of the so-called "euthanasia" program, however, was not to relieve the suffering...

Just a thought --- what do people think about organizing a hunger strike to protest this starving to death of an innocent person?

As the hours tick by, it seems more and more likely the judge has pocket vetoed Terry's bill.

Since congress called Terri as a Federal Witness should she not be allowed to be protected by the Federal Witness Protection Program. Just get one of the Federal Justices that are in the US Marshall's back pocket to issue a writ to place Terri in the Witness program then fly down there and take her into protective custody until which time that she can testify.

Judge GREER is legally blind and cannot read his legal briefs given him. He can only make rujlings based on what he HEARS from the Lawyers in his courtroom, not sees in writing.

O Lord!
Some times when we see wickedness
running rampant,
celebrated as freedom,
considered a virtue
by those who know you not,
it burns,
the anger that comes unbidden,
that this is not right,
not fair,
not just.

Today, while we work for our sister Terri,
how hard it is not to burn,
not to weep,
not to break down.

At those moments, Lord,
help us to offer up
this anger to you,
a burnt offering
of our love and concern,
fruit of having followed you.

Help us to remember
those times you experienced first hand
the wickedness of man,
his willingness to cause pain
and hurt and death,
his ability to take pleaure
in what is not right
and just and true,
when for love of us
you went down into the dust of death
through pain and blood and grief.

Help us to remember, too,
that you love us all,
those who harm
and those who heal,
and how you asked us
to care for those who would hurt us,
love those who would harm us,
pray for those who hate us.

Speak your words into our heart, Lord,
that remind us
that you are always in control,
and that we can rest confidently
in your arms,
letting go and letting you
be God.

First They Came for the Jews
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
