Pedophiles/sexual predators come in all sizes, shapes, colors, and professions. Some are bums and scum; some are doctors and priests; some are parents; and some are relatives of our own. When I was a small child, many of my friends had "funny uncles" that we were never supposed to get close to - that is the way our folks handled it. But, then, back then, a man like that knew if he touched one of us our fathers would kill him and no one would do a thing about it. Sometimes a good healthy fear of facing the consequences of your actions will do more to keep you straight than anything else.

Been a long time since I heard that term 'funny uncle'...yes as I child, I also heard that term from my dad...there were certain men, I was never supposed to let myself be left alone with...as I was so young when I heard that term for the first time, I am not sure I even knew what it meant...I had to get a bit older to know what dad was talking about...

It also confused me, because that term was never used in connection with any of my real 'uncles'...it was used with lets say, the corner grocer, or the man who lived five doors down from us...

I did not question it...my dad proclaimed some one a 'funny uncle', told me to stay away from them, and I did what dad said...
