Terri Schiavo: 'I Waaaannt [To Live]'
Newsmax via Hannity ^ | Mar 18,2005 | Newsmax Staff

Posted on 03/18/2005 2:55:38 PM PST by spycatcher

A mentally disabled woman whose court ordered starvation-execution began Friday attempted to contradict her estranged husband's claim that she wants to die hours before her feeding tube was disconnected, an eyewitness is claiming.

Barbara Weller, an attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, told reporters Friday afternoon that during her visit earlier in the day she told Ms. Schiavo:

"Terri, if you would just say, 'I want to live,' - all of this will be over."

According to pro-life activist Randall Terry, who recounted the scene to radio host Sean Hannity, Schiavo tried desperately to repeat Weller's words.

"'I waaaaannt . . .' Schiavo allegedly said, in a prolonged yell that had police stationed nearby running into her hospice room.

"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'" Terry said, according to Weller's account.

At that point police ejected Weller, he said.

If this is indeed even true, what makes you think she was trying to say that she wanted to live?

No, I suspect the brain dead individual was saying... (do you get the point?), The funny thing is that even if she was saying she wanted to die, she does not have the right. The fact that she said anything makes this whole thing nothing more than the government using the issue to increase its rights to kill civilians on technicality's.

If you were to do something stupid, like forget to set your parking brake and your actions caused someone else to die it would be called manslaughter and you could go to prison. If you were to pull the plug on some patient in the hospital to watch them die it would be called murder, and if you were to decide to pull the plug on a person for personal reasons, and go to the hospital to take them out it would be first degree murder.

In what way is this case different? Clearly first degree murder is being legalized right before the public, and congress is being limited by the judicial branch on its ability to set the law of the land.

Which, by the way, is the point of the whole issue. The Constitution has been nullified, the coup over the republic of America is complete. The Bastard branch of government is now in control. The one branch of government that never had the right to make laws, just made a law giving it right over your right to live, and set its right to kill far higher than any representative you may ever have to defend yourself.

Have a happy retirement, hope you do not become disabled, for man in America no longer has the right to life given by God, but your very right to live is at the whim of lawyers now.

That is why this simple murder case is such a dog and pony show.

Terri's isn't thru her nose, it's directly into her stomach.

But yes, even it a feeding tube goes thru the nose and down the throat, they can still talk. It goes down the esophagus, not the trachea, and doesn't interfere with the glottis or vocal chords.

So charming you are with the condescension. I'll go over it again: I doubt that she is capable of responding to anyone. If on the other hand she can respond, (i.e. not "brain dead") it is certainly not a given that she would ask to be kept alive through artificial means in an incapacitated state for another decade or two. Apparently it's hard for some here to imagine, but a lot of people would not want to live like that.

"(because they use CT scans for brain injuries!!!)"

Hey know-it-all.
Every single year I have an MRI for the severe head injury I sustained in 1981.
They do it to 'keep an eye' on the brain scar tissue and to make sure nothing bad develops.

I even get personal copies to take home.

I've had MRIs done for a neck/spinal injury as well.

Next "expert medical fact", please.

"Read anything you like. And you won't like much."

After reading CH's posts, I would disagree with your comment.

It's been used for brain imaging since the mid-80s.
I know personally because I was on the "bleeding edge" of it all....:)

"begetter of bastards"

Please don't denigrate those children. They are innocent of any of this.

Well, he is responsible for creating children in this condition -- without legitimate parents. Jodi did not force her **** over his **** against his will.

And you are being a bit obtuse in ignoring that persons in a persistent vegetative state CAN and often DO respond to outside stimuli (see my post above above)...the question is whether it's a conscious response....

You may already know this, but just to ensure the record is clear to other readers, Michael is not a devout Roman Catholic. He was Protestant and we assume he and Terri were married in a Catholic church. Catholic by marriage, but DEVOUT, I DOUBT.

You know what I noticed, Ma'am?

Many posters misread your posts because they are so used to the relentless demands for proof when someone relates to new or questionable information.

They don't see that you are one of the most consistent, and fair-minded posters here. You ask for PROOF, not matter what the side, or issue. That is because of your job experience.

Threadiots (email me for definition) demand proof on the simplest and easily googled issues, and on anything that will tie up the poster searching, while the threadiot claims that poster won't provide proof because they don't have any.

You ask for proof on anything that (Like this) has not been confirmed in various ways. And you ask for proof when someone makes outrageous claims like most of us do.

I don't know why some posters misinterpret my postings. Maybe the threadiots thing explains that.

How can someone talk – or try to talk—with a feeding down her through, is it run through her nose?

The so called feeding tube is actually known as a GASTRONOMY TUBE. (Ask any medical person, but not the ones The Judge picked to evaluate Terri. They apparently have problems with complicated medical terms).

It is connected and disconnected by means of a valve surgically implanted in an opening of her skin/stomach. The Tube can be disconnected to clean/replace it.

It is there to make it easier and quicker for Terri to eat, as she has much difficulty getting down large amounts of food or liquids, and difficulty chewing her food enough.

So, it makes it easier for the nurse's staff in that they don't have to try and hand feed her.

Not "she didn't say anything, are you kidding?", but "She said 'No'"

Well, CYN, my Freeper friend, The 'simplest' things are used to make fools of the 'wise'.

This is an intelligence test, let's see how many can pass it!

What if it was: 'I waaaannt... to end this suffering'

As CYN stated to another poster, If Terri said, "I waaaannt...." , then she can talk, no matter what the rest of the sentence would be.

METINKS YOU OUTWITTED YOURSELF.

There must be 100's of scenes just like this being played out in the U.S.

Well, over 150 at the Suncoast Hospice alone.

Imagine having the capacity to live, but not the capacity to communicate. It is not an unknown condition, my grandpa suffered from it.

Now imagine being surrounded by people discussing killing you, and them saying to you, all you have to do to live is say...

It seems that she is able to respond, and to the subject, just not able to complete sentences. One thing grandpa could say was DAMN... So when he struggled to say a complete sentence, he would often just break down in tears saying Damn, damn damn...

Now my comment that "I suspect the brain dead individual was saying was not condescension, it was stating the obvious to someone so wrapped up in liberal pc speech to miss the obvious. Brain dead people do not form words, ever. Nor to they sit up, or follow your movements with their eyes.

(Now do you get the point?)

The law doesn't and shouldn't care about what anyone but the legal guardian has to say on the subject. You can't just flout the law when it flies in the face of your personal beliefs.

You have just proven your ignorance of the law.

The judge flouted the law by not taking all the testimony in to judge the preponderance of evidence. He found excuses for ignoring anything that might be considered proof Terri is aware.

The law being used by the judge states that to be PROVEN PVS, they must prove Terri is NOT AWARE.

I have seen no proof, only conclusions of doctors who spent an hour or less examining Terri. The Doctor who was taking care of her, her personal physician, was asked by the court to testify, to lay out the groundwork for the other doctors. He did, and was then ruled irrelevant.

That does not, on any planet, make sense.

Curiously, it DOES say that Terris reactions are affected by the medications given her - ??? I thought she received NO medications ?

Sure she does. Sedatives. Prior to court appointed doctor's exams.
