Terri Schiavo: 'I Waaaannt [To Live]'
Newsmax via Hannity ^ | Mar 18,2005 | Newsmax Staff

A mentally disabled woman whose court ordered starvation-execution began Friday attempted to contradict her estranged husband's claim that she wants to die hours before her feeding tube was disconnected, an eyewitness is claiming.

Barbara Weller, an attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, told reporters Friday afternoon that during her visit earlier in the day she told Ms. Schiavo:

"Terri, if you would just say, 'I want to live,' - all of this will be over."

According to pro-life activist Randall Terry, who recounted the scene to radio host Sean Hannity, Schiavo tried desperately to repeat Weller's words.

"'I waaaaannt . . .' Schiavo allegedly said, in a prolonged yell that had police stationed nearby running into her hospice room.

"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'" Terry said, according to Weller's account.

At that point police ejected Weller, he said.

I don't automatically accept that it's a "fact" (as some have said) that "she spoke", though.

Fine. Be turned off, I don't care.

What we have here is a failure of leadership not a failure of Terri to communicate.

Leadership in Florida and Washington is in the hands of George and Jeb Bush, and like Peggy Noonan said today: If Terri Schiavo is killed, Republicans will pay dearly for it.

Doesn't the fact that she could express a desire either way mean she isn't brain dead?

"With Jeb and George Bush in charge, her blood will pretty much be on the hands of the Bush family."

Another irrational 'BUSH'S FAULT'. How about the 'MEN IN BLACK'?

You ever hear of a document called the Declaration of Independence?
There's a little item in it about one's God-given right to life. Terri Schiavo's rights are being denied to her. That is why DeLay, Hastert at al are intervening in this matter. They are not overextending their authority, they are using it, correctly, to defend an American citizen against a corrupted process and a corrupt 'husband'.

I heard Randy's interview. Sean challenged him as to why this was not all over the news.

Next they'll be saying she got up and did the funky chicken too. Come on guys, this is crazy. Let the poor woman rest in peace.

You certainly don't know squat.

Your need to hurl a cheap insult in lieu of offering anything of substance suggests that you don't "know" any more than I do here.

Is there any video of this? - If Terri is able to communicate like this hasn't this questioned every been asked to her before? - Asked during court proceedings? (if not, why?) -

Either people on Terri's side are incredibly dumb that they have never asked this question to her before? - OR - They have asked it and she has never been able to respond until now...which makes this some kind of miracle - OR - Something completely seems off about this happening today -

OK, then don't accept it automatically. Ask some of the Freepers here to give you a link to threads of her moving about and enjoying her surrounding family memebers (sans her husband... who doesn't visit much...)

Your post confusing to me. If I read Terri stated she wanted the tube removed, I would want to hear her say it. I would get chills and think was I wrong here. By you not wanting to find out if Terri actually said this, seems to me to say that you wouldn't respect her choice to live. Would you not rather see her subpoenaed and asked ?

Did anybody catch the hatchet job that ABC News did on the Schiavo case tonight?

HOLY sh*t.

Sorry if this has been discussed but here in Korea we're a little behind the states on seeing the evening news.

This is a family matter not a political football.
I have been through something like this but it never got this kind of coverage,.
I have to go along with the doctors on this one.
There must be 100's of scenes just like this being played out in the U.S.

Of course, she wants to live. Who would want to starve and dehydrate to death? Who would want to be responsible for making that happen? Now, health care personnel, who are charged with saving and preserving life, must preside over a deliberate death.

I'll repeat...If President Bush can issue a symbolic pardon for a Thankgiving turkey that makes major national news, he could have done something tangible to support Terri before now.

And yes, I agree that Men In Black are the problem. But what's the solution? LEADERSHIP. THE BULLY PULPIT. Bush needs to educate the nation that the judiciary branch is hijacking the law and Constitution, and lay out how Americans can take control of their nation back by demanding either impeachment of the internationalists or by demanding their Congressmen overturn these bizarre judicial rulings.

With Jeb and George Bush in charge, her blood will pretty much be on the hands of the Bush family.

I wonder...if you stood in front of a mirror, looked at yourself as you were spouting off such assinine nonsense you would see the same person we now imagine??????? Nahhh, probably not. You are too filled with joy at blaming the Bush family for everything. Sad for you.

The irony here is the fact that she SPOKE when asked the question!

That's not irony - that is breaking news - as of this morning, she could respond.

Next step is to get her evaluated and commence some therapy so she can complete the Waaaaaa...sentence.

"As far as I know, Florida is not a right-to-die (assisted death) state, so the court ordering the feeding tube removed from Terri would be tantamount to starving any dependent to death, such as an infant."

Exactly. ANY vocal response means manifestly she is aware or cognizant. Furthermore, there is no evidence she is dying. So....removing her feeding tube BEGINS the dying process. This is euthanasia!

She is being put to death because she has inconvenienced too many people. What use is a person who cannot talk, who cannot bathe, who cannot raise her hand to her mouth? The gleam in her eyes be damned. This day is a dark day indeed.
