Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.
Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.
According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.
One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.
Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.
As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.
More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.
I agree. An AK-47 "on the street" is a road hazard. Even a stamped receiver could cause a blow-out if you ran it over.
I feel the same way about the First Amendment. You know, the part that says, "Congress shall make no law abridging... the freedom of speech, or of the press." I'm still looking for the part that says "... except for pornography, yelling fire in a crowded theater, certain donations to politcial campaigns, tobacco advertisments, alcohol advertisements, certain kinds of commercial speech, etc.
Would you feel better if these people got shot with a 9mm?
Both in and out of government. Far back in human history one finds oppressive governments that didn't start out that way. The Second Ammendment is in place particularly for that reason.
5.45 x 39 is .221 IIRC - and it has very gentle recoil.
I'd recommend a good ak in 22lr, but those are pretty rare and you can only get 10 round magazines.
Can you even explain what an AK47 is, what makes it different from others? especially what makes it so bad to you?
Actually, PIttsburgh is one of the MOST segregated Cities/(Towns) in the Northeast/Midwest....
Evidence??
Which means you still don't get it. The main point of the 2nd amendment isn't merely to allow people to protect themselves from criminals. It's to allow people to protect themselves from any government that would try to disarm them.
You deserve to get flamed considering the "AK-47" sold in America isn't anything more dangerous than what was sold 50 or 75 years ago to anyone over 18.
Odd indeed...
The US could repeal the 2nd Amendment and replace it with a 100% ban on firearms and there would still be just as much gun violence. Criminals don't respect laws at all.
"Bad People" will get their hands on these guns, legal or not.
MASS MURDERERS AGREE "Gun Control Works"
Hitler,Mao,Stalin,Castro, you fill in the blank....
Just co-lateral damage. Move on.
I can't believe I'm reading this on FR. Son, you need to educate yourself on the intent of the 2nd Amendment and the definition of "arms". Oy Vey.
IE; The Hill District, Northside, East McKeesport, etc etc etc.....
See # 28.
Admittedly- it was a REACTION on my part, not a thoughtful response.
Nope, not as long as POS defense attorneys are out there to ensure that justice is not served for perps who commit violent crimes.
I know this sounds a little severe, but its long past time to bring back public hangings. Quicker, cheaper, and less red tape.
We have the right to bear ARMS. These are military weapons. In the Revolutionary War and even the Cival War, arms including artillery were supplied by those who organized the militias, not the government. The idea of the Second Ammendment is to protect our rights from an overzealous government. Look at US history: the government has NEVER protected those rights. It always has been the duty of the citizen to keep our government in check. Those of late have shirked that duty.
Well the recoil is a bit much for them. Kids should stick to 10-22s and AR-15s.
