Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.
Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.
According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.
One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.
Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.
As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.
More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.
glad to have been of some use.
Agreed, I have to laugh each time I watch 'COPS' and the officers draw their sidearms and threaten the perps. The PERPS know the officers will NEVER shoot them, so they just start to run. Hilarious!
Negative. As an ex-serviceman I have no problem with firearms. They, and skilful use thereof, have saved my life.
My comment was neutral, NOT anti-gun. But it was NOT pro-gun either!
If you flood a society with firearms, folks will sometimes use them on each other. Stands to reason. Whether they are single shot, full or semi-auto is immaterial.
Therefore it becomes co-lateral damage of the right to bear arms. It is the price you pay for the freedom to do so.
I do not have problem with it, just making the obvious observation.
Though the courts are legislating from the bench, never accept that the Constitution reads any different than it does. Arms are arms. As rational people some exceptions make sense. Nukes are arms, I don't want everyone to have one.
I own a lot of semi-autos but no so call Assault Weapons.
From my perspective, if you need to use a "weapon", it's an assault weapon!! go figure. Gun grabbers are usually illogical when they argue, but then when facts don't matter to you, just your ideology, you can make any argument you want to. Their agenda is obvious, to disarm the populace. Now why would they want to do that? My answer is Molon Labe!
Exactly. That is why I said "So called Assault Weapons".
For anyone over 18.
Do they have the mental maturity? Some yes, some no.
The key thing is that the police can't protect you, even when they are on the scene at the time of the crime.
ok...that is what I was hoping you were saying...
It just looked like you were advocating high schoolers be allowed to carry concealed. :)
No problem....
In the olden days, 1700s, 1800s, did kids, 13, 14 ,15, and younger, carry guns? Yes.
Were they more mature than kids nowadays? Probably, but the reason was that maturity was thrust upon them.
They knew that if they used that firearm, it'd better be for a damn good reason.
They could get hung, literally, for using that firearm.
Now they can't even get the death penalty. What's stopping them from committing a murder or two? They can always hit the reset button.
In this day and age, I wish that there was more of a return to the days of yore.
I will take today just fine though.
Back then there was a reason for the kids to carry. There shouldnt be a reason for kids to carry these days. But you are right, the kids back then had to seriously consider the ramifications of what they did with that weapon. I dont know if it was correct back then either, mainly because of a lack of experience on the kids part...but if it works, it works.
Stop flattering yourself. You don't understand what I am saying. I never argued about the 2nd Amendment with you one time. You are bogged down in tiny details. I am talking about fundamental issues. You have never grasped that, even though I've come right out and told you.
Dave, look who is full of themselves here. You desire to wax eloquent over philosophical issues and your perceived view of what the founders intended, though you do not back this up with valid cites. I ask for reality, cites, or links to serious argument.
If you do not want to discuss the issue in the context of what is, then fine. Go and speak to your fellow philosophers and I will continue to ask for history and the law.
I'll take "horse nose" for $500, Meeky.
I was going to post to you about another subject any way. I guess one could use an assault newspaper, golf club, skillet, etc. also but for some reason reporters and the gun grabbers don't do that.
The othe subject. From your previous posts you seem to have some experience with the AK weapons. From my recollection the AK-47 was only made, even for the Russian military, for a very short time. They went to the AKM and the AK-74. A lot of countries affilliated with the Russians at the time made variations of the AK-xx. Seems as if today anything that fires a 7.62X39 round is called an AK-47 just as anything that took pictures was called a kodak.
I went to the web site you mentioned and was refered to the manufacturer of a modern day "AK-47." I notice that they use an RPK receiver and offer them chambered for.223 up to .308 as well as the 7.62X39. Since VEPR and others call theirs AK-47s I'll concede that AK-47s are available today in many variations although they aren't quite like the original.
One can also buy a "Colt" 1873 single action army or an 1894 Bisley of recent vintage but it isn't quite the same as the original.
You're exactly correct! Manufacturing techniques change, of course, as well as "improvements", though I am sure I would get some arguments from the purists concerning the ability to improve on the design of the original AK! Actually, I prefer the .308 "version" of the AK, as produced by Robinsion and VEPR, as well as others.
Well, he clarified his original post.
"I said I would love to see it and I should have said
"if it worked", but it doesn't work." .....

There and also replied to other folks comments to his #11.
"Post haste" syndrome, I suppose. :^)
Thanks.
