Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.
Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.
According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.
One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.
Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.
As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.
More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.
Unfortunately, many see "slippery-slope" as a very real problem. Until you can clearly define, using solid Constitutional reasoning, why there should be a line, those of us who see no line will be very annoyed at those of you who arbitrarily draw one.
You want AK-47 styles banned then? I assume that'll mean all semi-auto rifles right?
If not, which ones are 'ok'?
"Just co-lateral damage. Move on."
What's with all the anti-gun sentiment on this thread. Did I stumble onto the wrong forum?
Your State legislature is currently working to ban them. They didn't even add in a "Grandfather" clause.

No. It crops up here from time to time.
No offense taken. Just wanted to point out, as you have, that kooks, criminals and "beserkers" come in all colors. I just don't know which category to put Michael Jackson in. I'm guessing he's a beserker.
Those were the norms of the day. They were using what their opponents were using, not taking on then-modern arms with blunderbusses and clubs. Today, would-be opponents have AK47s and M16s - do you seriously want "your side" to take them on with Brown Bess?
Your son, like mine, was probably also surrounded by a large number of 19-21 year-olds with M16A2s or M4s, and both probably felt safer for it. It ain't the guns, it is the scum-- be it Pennsylvania, Iraq or Rwanda.
I agree. Lying on your stomach is for wusses. Real men shoot free-handed.
"That's the problem. I would love to see immense gun control"
Even with immense gun control fully implemented... a man was brutally killed in broad daylight yesterday in London by an axe-weilding idiot.
Taking away the guns won't work. The intent is what kills. The gun is merely a convenient tool with which to commit the deed.
Besides, I happen to like my guns in my house in my country, which is subject to the Constitution. Translation: I like it and I'll keep 'em. Thank you very much.
Time to crack down on the CCW holders and get excess guns off the street in Pittsburg as well!
Mayor John Street: Too many people get gun-carry permits in city
Dunno. Anti-conservative sentiments are rising in a great many threads on FR, advocating advanced gov't control & suppression of a wide range of liberties. Not sure if it's deliberate infiltration or growing acceptance of oppression as the expected norm.
"We don't have a right to unlimited destructive power,"
I applied for a concealed carry on a nuke just last week! ;)
The ghost of Carlos Hathcock is gonna kick you square in the nads for that comment. Most snipers shoot from the prone position.
Well, I see Diddle here saying that there needs to be controls on AK47's. I'd sure like to for him to refine and explain exactly what he means. Right now I'm bewildered that a freeper would want to increase regulations on semi-auto rifles.
They certainly didn't buy a weapon at the age of 17 legally.
