"The NRA and other opponents contended the ban was ineffective, in part because copycat weapons not covered by the ban were easy to make."

That is true, but the main reason to oppose this bill is because it is TRYANNICAL and UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!!

It is what the AP decided to report. Notice the phrases "and other people" and especially "in part" in quote.

"Thats a dumb(stupid, ignorant, unnecessary, and we need the name of the ignoramus from the NRA or other opponents that said THAT!)way or arguing against it. Now they'll add "copycat weapons" to the ban. Just say the ban was innefective because gun control does not work."

Yeah, what's up with that?

"What I want to know is, with republican control of the house, senate, and presidency, where is the legislation to completely repeal the 1934, 1968, and 1986 gun control acts?"

Both parties are leading us down the road to the New World Order socialist state, the Repulibans are just boiling the frog more slowly. NO ONE is going to reverse the 1934, 1968 and 1986 gun control acts. That would be countreproductive to the agenda.

More of the usual nonsense by the usual idiots.

We know the ban worked

Show some proof.

Actually, it's easy to find quotes by her and others that slam the ban, since it had "loopholes," and the fact that you could still get the same firearms in most cases. So, which is it, DiFi? Either the ban worked or it didn't. You said both!

So, of course, this new ban she wants, is far more specific in banning nearly all semi-auto rifles.

Mark

Feinstein announced bipartisan co-sponsors Monday: Republican Sens. John Warner of Virginia and Mike DeWine of Ohio,
Aren’t these Senator up for election in 2006 The Republicans have been on the hit list for the last two elections. It is time to retire them, like Maryland is retiring Paul Sarbanes

Where does McCain Stand on this issue?

I'm sure he stands right next to the other RINO tyrannists like Bloomberg, Ah-nold, Rudy, Arlen "Magic-Bullet" Spinchter..errrr..Specter, and Nebraska's own RINO Chucky-Cheese Hagel.

The irony of the Pinnochio-like resemblence in your graphic has not escaped me.

The NRA and other opponents contended the ban was ineffective, in part because copycat weapons not covered by the ban were easy to make.

This is not true.

The contention was that the ban was a broad encroachment on firearms owners rights because it banned weapons that were functionally identical to millions of legal rifles owned by millions of hunters and sportsmen.

In addition, it was unnecessarily complex, banning or allowing a hodgepodge of parts and pieces to make a gun legal. In other words, it set up millions of gunowners to be unknowingly out of compliance with some obscure facet of the legislation.

I'm with you. Repeal the NFA of '34, the GCA of '68, and the ban of '86.

Yes. I would like to see legislation at least introduced this year to start on this. It's time to move the debate forward.

For the last couplle of decades we have considered a stalemate a victory. That doesn't cut it. We need to define the debate, instead of react to the left's blatherings.

Besides, I like my sport-utility rifle.

On the good news side, it looks like the NRA will get the manufacturers' liability legislation through.

And at the state level, CCW has come along well -- and I would like to see more work on getting Vermont/Alaska carry laws passed. I have read that a few Western states have started pushing this, and I would like to see a state such as Florida or South Carolina pushing on this subject.

And speaking of Florida, Ms. Marion Hammer is doing a fine job on pushing new legislation in Florida to strengthen self-defense laws.

Warner????????........what the hell is he doing supporting this......I would think he is the last one to switch sides.....is he getting senile...???????

Warner's term ends in 2008. Word in VA is that he's not running again due to "health problems", so he's essentially a lame duck.

"standard original non clintoon magazines are pretty much my key purchases these days."

I roger that! Botach Tactical out in L.A. has 31-round Glock 9mm mags (fer the 17, 18 & 19) for $20 with no "LEO only" markings. I won't tell ya how many I bought for that rainy day.

Good point about the nomenclature, too. I call so-called "hi cap" mags "standard cap", and 10-rounders "handi-capped". I refuse to let the enemy define the terms of the debate. Hey, it's 2005, and 30 rounds has been the norm for oh, about 40 YEARS now! $:-)
