TBP said, There are places in the Bible that could be read as promoting violence.

I find it amusing that every time someone tries to defend islam as a peace loving religion, instead of bringing out a provable argument (there isn't one) or showing evidence,(there is none) they have to try and attack Christianity. Jesus, who is the Son of God, and the HEAD of the Christian church, taught love and forgiveness, not hate and vengeance.

For you to even attempt to compare Christianity with islam would be insulting if it wasn't so ludicrous.

Christians were warned of what was to come...

"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves." 2 Peter 2:1

Take some time and study the life of Jesus and if you can stomach it, the life of Mohammed, then get back to me and we can compare the Light with the Darkness.

Excellent comment from you Jan. I see 'we' are once more communicating with someone who uses the same old same old tactics that I am so very very tired of. We discuss islam as a system of belief, we research, we quote sources, provide photographic evidence of the terrible atrocities islam commits, not only against those they call filthy kuffar or infidels, but against their own people. And along comes another one, putting words in our mouths, twisting facts to suit their pathetic, unsustainable argument: That it is us who are throwing all muslims into the same basket, so to speak.
If you read carefully, the accusation is always the same. I guess the accusers believe if they say it often enough, it will sound like the truth. And the accusation, what is it really?
That 'we' are muslim-bashing, intolerant, bigoted.
I would like to say - one more time - our argument, our disgust, is with islam as a system of belief. There are now too many muslims thoughout the world who agree with us, who have themselves declared the evil that islam is, for me personally, to take any further notice of the aplogoists who pop their silly heads into FR.

eXACTLy -- Christianity is founded on peace and love. Even when the Crusaders went to war to defend Christianity, they wondered if they should really kill. An act of violence by a Christian is something that is contrary to our basic teachings and for which we ask for God's grace. However, an act of violence by aMuslime is just him following the word of Mohammed.
