CNN tanking as Fox News surges Double-digit declines reported for Larry King, Wolf Blitzer

The ratings are in for February, and the numbers are not good for CNN which saw steep losses in its viewership, while the Fox News Channel continued its rise.

According to Nielsen Media Research, CNN's ratings fell by 21 percent last month in primetime, and 16 percent overal reports Variety. Primetime big-name shows such as "Larry King Live," "Wolf Blitzer Reports," "Lou Dobbs Tonight," "Paula Zahn Now" and "Newsnight With Aaron Brown" all experienced double-digit declines.

Only "Anderson Cooper 360" had a slight increase of 2 percent.

During President Bush's State of the Union Address, CNN was soundly beaten by Fox, and even lost the key 25-54 demographic to third-place MSNBC.

In contrast, Fox News was the only news network on cable to see viewership increases in February, as it outpaced all other cable news companies combined for the sixth straight month.

It didn't help CNN when that nut case (ole what's his name) said the military was deliberately targeting reporters. Good riddance to CNN.

It's always been a mystery to me why anybody in their right mind would watch that clueless old fool larry king. It's like Mr. Magoo doing an interview show.

It wasn't LOOKING at the Honda that was the story---the Honda was not found there until after the other networks had signed off for the night---THAT was my point

And, considering that all of the stations had the license plate number plastered all over the screen for 12 hours yesterday, made it big news that the car never even left the parking garage the whole day...isn't that interesting to you?

If Fox would get rid of Greta and drop the all Michael Jackson all the time they might survive. The thing propping them up is the rest of them are so bad.

You nailed it. Thank you! Sean and BO are annoying as well; though they have a venue that is in our interst. Now, if Hannity can figure out how to compose a sentence,... that would be a miracle. Hannity needs some ADS medicine and pro-nown coatching.. He, She, It, You, Her, I, Me It, They, Them, You... The jack-ass is beyond belief; unless you read his 57th release of his book. (tinfoil on) What do I know? My Cobra runs well though!

Fox news beat CNN to the capture of the Judge killer in suburban Atlanta - where CNN has how many thousand employees and Fox has a single regular correspondent. Unbelievable how CNN has lost the franchise. If they weren’t a significant part of the Atlanta local economy I’d take even greater pleasure in their demise.

Lou Dobbs's problem is that he is about as inspiring as a bag of dirt. The guy puts me to sleep and besides, is clueless on issues such as outsourcing and trade (agree with him on immigration though). ;-)

No, Colmes ahould be taken out behind the wood shed, and spanked. He is a yellow flippin worm that needs a willow ripping on his silly white ass.

On the flip side, Hannity is an intellectual moron.

Just in case you didn't read the complete article, Greta Van Susteren's program is up by the highest percentage on Fox:

"On the Record With Greta Van Susteren" up 37 percent;

"Hannity & Colmes" up 19 percent;

"Special Report With Brit Hume" up 20 percent;

and "The O'Reilly Factor," up 9 percent

Obviously her program is bringing in a lot of new viewers, so even though you may not like her, it seems that many others do, including me. I think she is basically fair and honest in her comments, and it is, after all, a legal show that she hosts, so they aren't going to be discussing baseball, and they probably ARE going to be discussing Michael Jackson, the Atlanta murders, Scott Peterson, Robert Blake, etc. That's what they do on her program, discuss legal cases.

Yea, it's sad that we have become a nation of "looking at the crash scene death". If they televised suicide by gunshot to the temple it would probably be the most watched show on TV.

I am not fond of Greta's program because I don't have much interest in most of the trials she features. I thought she did a great job during the Iraqi war, and she surprised me at how good she was at covering the military.

One thing I noticed about CNN vs. Fox is that CNN is sonorous and depressing even when covering something apolitical, while Fox has energy and is upbeat. I think the general attitude at Fox appeals to younger viewers as well.

I see you frequently over on the Schiavo threads, so it's obvious that there is at least one legal case you are interested in.

You are mistaken, I never post on the Schiavo threads, somehow I got on the ping list and I don't have the nerve to ask to be taken off. Only because I don't know what Terry herself would want done so I cannot make posts on those threads.
