I work in Brookfield, Wisconsin. It is a Milwaukee suburb, and the hotel is very popular. It's right off the Interstate. Sorry but it's about an hour and half south and west of Sheboygan.

Wasn't there a massacre in Wisconsin just a few months ago, with the hunters up north? What's going on up there??

it's about an hour and half south and west of Sheboygan. What are you driving. We used to be able to get there in 50 minutes on a 3 lane road. Of course, it is amazing that we are still alive. ;)

The Living Church of Christ. Apparently associated with the son of a guy called Armstrong who is a long time evangelist. Actually, the older Armstrong died about 20 years ago. His playboy son died not too long ago.

A lil melodramatic arent you? If you were so concerned Im sure you would have called first BEFORE posting a reply to a message on a message board....right?
I did and I couldn't make contact with him. I was upset, not melodramatic. I finally did get in contact with him and they are ok. Thanks for your concern anyway.

Whut? "They" are running homicidal maniacs to get gun laws passed? Get a grip, son.I agree that the shooting itself is not part of a conspiracy, but keep an eye on how the mainstream media portrays incidents like this, with regards to the new proposed laws.

Just back and catching up and reeling from seeing the ages---will keep reading to see if any names reported yet.
Oh, dear.

The blame must be put on the security detail. My opinion too, especially since they had reasons to worry about this guy. I just think the anti gunners will use this and other shootings, especially that Wisconsin shooting today, to pretend that we can disarm criminals and crazy people.

Actually on this one I would give the press a pass, because these shootings are so tragic, sensational and scary. In other words this would make headlines across the country no matter what and this is definitely out of the norm for the American people.

I was able to see past the false teaching of this group all along, really. Unfortunately, my brother wasn't for a long time, and they screwed him up pretty good too.
But that was decades ago...both my parents are gone. So it's ancient history...water under the bridge.
LOL-- with 8 people dead and four injured from an obvious maniac, you give us the background of a church's teachings as it relates to your youth. Next, will you give the dramatic wars leading up to the Augsburg Treaty as how it relates to your bowel obstruction in 1997.
False teachings? 11 victims and one suicide and you're spouting some horsesh*t about "false teachings" to an audience ranging from atheists to christian zealots to pantheists, all having differing value systems. What is false to you may not be false to them. And I fail to see the connection between a shooter's evil disposition and a church requiring tithing, which happens to fit the description of many lives lived in baptist, lutheran, anglican, and catholic homes.
STM, you have a disconnect and wish to vent on a thread that at last reading has nothing to do with you. And please don't push it off as background information not readily reported by the MSM. What the hell does that mean? Sorry the victims could not accomadate your wishes for a sit-down on your early childhood trauma as per their church. They're dead or holding onto their dear lives. People died at the hands of a perp that knew they had no weapons.
And if you don't know why I'm pissed, consider that as the Twin Towers fell, a comment on how Cantor Fitzgerald screwed you back in 1982 would be extremely inappropriate under any circumstance as well. Have some respect for the victims, the families, the widows, and the orphaned. If you wish to start a thread on your traumatized youth in some church, write it and file it under vanity --BTW welcome to the club.
Flame is lowered. Spleen is vented. We're still friends.

Was the teaching of Jim Jones pertinent? How about the guy in Waco?
This is why I pursued that angle.
From the news I've seen I don't have any reason to believe that their teaching had anything to do with this guy whacking out, but when you're dealing with religious organizations, that's always a possibility.
So, I don't regret posting what I did at all, in spite of your venting.
But, in any case, I don't take offense at your opinion. You're entitled to it.
I offered up prayer for the victims, and I continue to do so.

Did you read their website? They don't believe in the military and/or the use of guns.
To: EternalVigilance
Your understanding of the teachings of this church is correct.
To: EternalVigilance
What's the story? He was a member of the church, which teaches and believes against guns and the military and violence and kills his own membership. What the heck?
To: sully777; EternalVigilance
Sorry to disagree (while acknowledging your Jim Robinson-given right to vent), but I am quite interested in some personal experience with this particular church. There does not appear to be a church web site, so from my vantage point here in the east this is good stuff.
And I would trust a Freeper's personal account more than one from the MSM.

FYI-
Shooter is 45 year-old Terry Ratzmann. NOT, I repeat, NOT a juvenile.
Sorry, I just had to do that!
