Eight people are dead and four others injured after gunfire broke out during a church meeting this afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield. Police say that the suspect is among the eight dead and no other suspects are being sought.
The dead range in age from 10 years old to 72.
I am a bit frustrated. In Atlanta, where things were simply awful, and 4 were killed, all eyes were watching. Now, in this situation 7 are dead, plus the perp, and others injured. Still have heard little. Just a bit now on CNN.
EEEEEWWW, that would make one feel uneasy for sure.
Obviously, the murders are the story. But facts about this particular organization are certainly good background information for the average reader, don't you think?
You sure won't get any of that information in the MSM.
That's one of the great things about FR.
Wow. Glad you and yours are okay.
Brookfield is a suburb of Milwaukee.
Think SE Wisconsin. Milwaukee is north of the Illinois border by only about 45 miles.
Well, I am finally going to take a shower and get out of my pj's. And put on a clean pair for tonight, LOL. With all this news today, reading and typing here, taking care of a sick hubby, I never got dressed! Glad I don't have video cam on my pc. (You should be too!)
Granted, it wasn't by those who are giving the information about the churches, but their pathetic claim they don't know where it came from is still under my skin.
Ah, okay...I misunderstood.
Right..
The World Wide Church of God is not homebased in the Church of God out of Cleveland Tenn. It is a different group all together. I don't know anything about the Living Church of God.
LOL...
The Living Church of God is one of several groups that splintered from the Worldwide Church of God when the latter gave up its legalistic, cultic doctrines and went more mainstream. The Living Church of God wanted to continue with the old doctrines.
Right. I knew they were not connected.
So then... we... had banned... the shooter...? Well, see, we were in the right. (Hmph.)
I am very ignorant about different churches and their doctrines---I am a Christian, but I don't get along with the organized churches very much--
Anyway, it seems to me that this church likes to make words--"Israelish" and "Australasia", for two---
but, like I said, I am kind of ignorant and these may really be words that I have never heard of--
Am I wrong?
Don't tell me you are a grad of Brookfield East High.............................?
That is so true. John Adams once said "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other."
Benjamin Franklin once said that "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
James Madison once said that "We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
And there are of course so many others. Freedom relies on all of us to behave ourselves; when the government has to make us behave in a certain way for our own safety, we have lost freedom.
Not to mention that the elimination of guns is impossible. The best thing we can do is to ensure that the good people can have protection; criminals will always have guns.

A Waukesha County man opened fire at a church service at a busy Brookfield hotel this afternoon, killing seven people and wounding four others before killing himself, police said.
Four victims and the gunman were dead when police arrived on the scene at the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel, Brookfield Police Chief Daniel Tushaus said. Three others died after being taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa.
Six of the dead were males, ages 15, 17, 44, 50, 58 and 72. The other was a 55-year-old woman. The four surviving victims included three females, including a 10-year-old who was in stable condition at Children's Hospital, and a 20-year-old man.
Police identified the shooter as a 45-year-old man. He used a handgun in the shootings, police said.
Police did not immediately release the names of any of the victims or the gunman.
The shootings occurred at a regularly scheduled Living Church of God gathering in a meeting room at the hotel shortly before 1 p.m. Police said the gunman was in some way affiliated with the church.
The church had met weekly at the Brookfield Sheraton for the past four or five years, police said.
No other suspects are being sought in the incident.
A Toyota pickup truck was towed from the scene and investigators descended on a New Berlin neighborhood, where police had shut down the 1400 block of S. Parkview Ave.
New Berlin mayor Ted Wysocki said officers from his city had been called in to help after the shooting. "We're doing an investigation at the behest of the Brookfield Police Department," Wysocki said.
The hotel, at 375 S. Moorland Road, is in a busy area just off of Interstate 94 near the Brookfield Square Mall. Several other events were happening in the hotel at the time of the shootings.
This was a church meeting of the Living Church of God. Their website is www.livingcog.org
The Living Church of God is a descendent of the Worldwide Church of God, founded by Herbert W. Armstrong. To learn about these denominations, see these websites:

LOL! Is that a normal thing?
Back when my Dad was President of the Congregation at our local Missouri Synod Church, folks did come to blows at a voter's meeting.
Some folks attempting to punch out the Pastor. Others, trying to punch out the would be punchers. It was apparently wild with the non-participants in the smack down trying to restrain the others.
If you could change the title, 7 confirmed dead in addition to the shooter.
