Eight people are dead and four others injured after gunfire broke out during a church meeting this afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield. Police say that the suspect is among the eight dead and no other suspects are being sought.
The dead range in age from 10 years old to 72.
I think your right, once this guy pulled a gun and took even just one shot, he would have been put down pronto if folks were armed. Maybe too, some of these criminals would think twice before pulling a gun if they knew what was waiting for them.
Anyway, this stuff is becoming all to frequent, innocent people are not safe in court rooms, schools, church, day care centers, the work place, etc. from criminals with guns, yet the bleeding hearts try to prevent us from protecting ourselves but 'their society' doesn't protect us as much as the criminal. Screw that.
I have a thing about this particular 'church', I admit.
I blame them and their extreme legalism for breaking up my family when I was just hitting my teenage years.
What followed was me on the streets on my own from about fourteen on.
Handgun was weapon.
No motive known.
Unknown how many in room at time of shooting.
All victims were in room for service.
Still working on victim identification and next of kin notification. Will release names at 10am presser.
No indications of another gunman or anyone else at large. No other suspects being sought.
Hale's cult was at one time called the "Woldwide Church of the Creator." They had to change their name to something else because it violated the trademark of a group in Oregon, who sued. Judge Lefkow (whose husband and mother were murdered) actually ruled in Hale's favor initially, but was overruled by the appeals court and ordered that Hale stop using the name and pay the fine. At that point, Hale solicited to have Lefkow killed and ended up in his rightful place, a jail cell.
Hale's cult now goes by some New-Agish style name that I can't remember. I don't think this church is related in any way, but seems to be some sort of offshoot of Herbert W. Armstrong's Anglo-Israelist strangeness (that the English are one of the lost tribes of Israel).

Shooter was affiliated with the church

No idea of motive.

Brokkfield PD press conference underway. Few details. Shooter was affiliated with the the Church. Next presser at 10:00 AM CST Sunday.
- Handgun was used.
- No motive determined.
- Shooter showed up at the meeting. Don't know yet if he was there at the start or entered midway.
- All victims were in the same room.
- Bodies are still at the hotel.
- Don't know if shooter had a prior record.
- Evidence only one shooter involved.
- Last murder in Brookfield was five years ago.
- Confirmed eight fatalities, including shooter.
I think I may know of a family that is also involved with this Church, but I am unsure if this is the same, or a similar named Church. If it's the same one, I can understand your disdain.
When you think of all the resources the left used to "out" Jeff Gannon of White House press briefing fame, you would hope that some of the resources that are available will find some way to "out" the idiot that made the "Jesus" remark---

I was able to see past the false teaching of this group all along, really. Unfortunately, my brother wasn't for a long time, and they screwed him up pretty good too.
But that was decades ago...both my parents are gone. So it's ancient history...water under the bridge.
You make a very good point. Also consider the fact of how nuch mayhem has been caused in the last couple of days by just two individuals armed with handguns. Just think of what a well-trained AQ or MS-13 terror cell armed with full-auto weapons and RPG-7s could do. It's a sobering thought.
If the Dhimmicrat leftists and the slimy Republican sellouts who side with them finally achieve their goal of disarming the citizenry, we'll be even more wide open to a Beslan-type incident than we are now. But that's what these folks want, since it will enable them to grab power on a permanent basis.

My family and I were driving right past this hotel at the time the call to police was made - on our way to have lunch with my folks who are celebrating their 45th anniversary. Pretty freaky.
