Eight people are dead and four others injured after gunfire broke out during a church meeting this afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield. Police say that the suspect is among the eight dead and no other suspects are being sought.

The dead range in age from 10 years old to 72.

Incident happened at about 1:45 or so CST. I first heard of it listening to WDDM News Radio 780 AM Chicago during the 2:00 pm CST CBS network radio news. They actually broke on top of the Georgia arrest of Nichols.

Always amazing, at least here in Milwaukee, how the local TV and radio is slaved to local programming.

I switched from WBBM Chicago at 2:00 PM CST and none of the local Milwaukee TV and radio stations were carrying the story.

The damn Brewers traaining camp prattle was on WTMJ 620 AM until about 2:30 or so.

About five minutes ago WTMJ 620 went live to a reporter at the scene and here's what the reporter was saying, apparently not knowing he was on the air live.
