Terri Schiavo's Husband Rejects Million Dollar Deal

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- The husband of brain-damaged Terri Schiavo has rejected a one (m) million dollar offer to drop his efforts to remove her feeding tube.

Michael Schiavo's attorney George Felos says that other offers already have been made and rejected. Felos called the offer offensive.

The woman's parents are trying to keep their 41-year-old daughter alive, but Michael Schiavo contends he once promised his wife he would not keep her alive by artificial means.

Terri Schiavo suffered a heart attack and severe brain damage 15 years ago.

The Pinellas County woman has lived in what court-appointed doctors call a persistent vegetative state since then.

San Diego businessman Robert Herring said yesterday that he would pay Michael Schiavo one (m) million dollars if he transfers the legal right to decide his wife's medical treatment to the Schindlers.

The offer will remain on the table until Monday.

I have watched a lot of Gloria Allred these past few years and I have to tell you, if I ever needed a victims advocate attorney she is who I'd hire!!

Just a thought but what if we took up a collection on FR to pay Gloria's expenses to see Terri? Course, we'd have to arrange it on the QT because Michael would inject her with a sedative - he's a nurse - remember.

He became a nurse so that he could personally take care of Terri once they received the malpractice award.

Perhaps if Terri interacted with Gloria, she just might take up the fight along with Mr. Gibbs and Barbara Weller!

Well again, it looks like he honestly wants to carry-out her wishes.

Terri's legal wishes needed to be documented in a 'living will' that she signed and had notarized. That was not done so it's a matter of "he says, she can't say!"

And, for some reason, this idiot judge is accepting Schiavo's word, not as heresay, but as legally binding???

You are so right. Never thought that if Terri was able to talk and was examined, Judge Greer would be on the "hot" seat along with Felos and company.

BINGO. Greer's behavior has been criminal, and I am nearly certain they would rise to the level that a judge's normal "immunity" from prosecution for his rulings would not apply.

I believe I read that Michael has decreed that her body is to be cremated **immediately** upon death. There is information about that somewhere around here.

One never knows until one is in that situation, but I THINK I would NOT want to be kept alive by artificial means, especially if there was no hope of getting better.

The husband claims there's no hope of her getting better. He clearly does not want her to get better. Some of the doctors he has hired to claim she has no hope of improvement are affiliated with euthenasia movements, and thus also likely do not want her to improve.

If bona fide efforts at improving her condition, made by people who actually wanted her condition to improve, were persistently unsuccessful, then one might reasonably believe there to be no hope. Given that her husband has clearly been sandbagging her condition, though, I see no reason to believe it would continue to be hopeless if she were freed from his clutches.

Note that the only proven reason she needs a feeding tube is that the husband refuses to allow anyone to make a bona fide effort to feed her by mouth. Any person, no matter how healthy, who is forbidden any and all means of receiving food or fluid will die in a fairly short while.

Perhaps we need to relabel grocery stores as "life-support stores", and drinking fountains as "life-support fountains". After all, anyone who can't plant and pick his own vegetables, find his own watering holes, and hunt and clean his own game, is being supported "artificially".

At least one doctor testified that she may have been strangled. If that's correct, or if she suffered some other life-threatening injury, her so-called husband could have something to hide, yes?

Can you see the slant and probably deliberate misrepresentation of facts in the above sentence? Look at how they use the term "the woman's parents" contrasted with "Michael Schiavo" using his full name and that he "promised his wife", while "the woman's parents are trying to keep their 41 year old daughter alive". It's a subtly twisted sentence biased toward MS.

An unbiased sentence would be something like

"Micheal Schiavo claims that he promised his wife he would not keep her alive by artificial means. Terri Schiavo's parents Bob and Mary Schindler claim that their daughter would have never made such a claim. There is nothing in writing of Terri's wishes.

If the media wanted to be accurate and fair and balanced, instead of worhtless propagandists for leftists, they could report on what the Schindler's are saying.i.e. about the settlement for therapy, then MS's sudden memory of his "promise to his wife" exc... and the testimony from Terri's friends and coworkers that their was trouble in the marriage, Terri's statement about Karen Quinlan ... in other words useless media- stop reporting this story from only MS side. Tell people about Terri's side too.

. I don't know how the facts can be gotten out about this case, except maybe to make up flyers with the most frequently missreported facts (or maybe just copy the "Myths about Terri" page from the web site Terrisfight.org) and have web site addresses available for of where to get more information ,and hand them out on the streets of Florida, until people get it.

Time is running out. Euthanazi's Greer and Felos will have Terri murdered by starvation/dehydration unless they are stopped, by those who have the power to stop them.

Michael Schiavo is not going to back down, he's in way too deep, and Felos would not let him , even if he wanted to. He has an agenda,edent where the disabled can be disposed of, with virtually no proof of their wishes (i.e will exc..) neccesary before the executions can be carried out.

Felo's wants Florida Hospices to become death houses. Instead of being a place where people go to die, Hospice's will be places that inflict death on those deemed "unworthy of life" in the same tradition that the Nazi's carried out mass extermination of disabled people.

The news media could find an intriguing, frightening story to tell here, if they would just look under the surface, but, no, they are too lazy to go after the real story. They take the easy way out and talk about Martha Stewart and Michael Jackson.

To tell the whole story about Terri would require a real reported who is willing to take an unflinching look at what Terri's parents side of the story is and to research Felos, Greer and the lot, the ties to Hospice industry, and what about Felo's book he wrote, where he claims he caused a plane he was to nose dive just by using his mind , or his claiming he can talk to non-communicative disabled people and they told him they wanted to die, that would make an interesting/weird story wouldn't it?

But, there aren't any "reporters" anymore, only propagandists and political hacks. Heck they aren't even good at the propaganda, as the Dan Rather fake documents story showed.

The lack of accurate information about Terri is one of the biggest obstacles in her plight.

I hope those with the power to save Terri from this court ordered death sentence, (which is totally unconstitutionally, she has had no jury trial and death by starvation can't be used for death row inmates -cruel and unusual punishment), I hope the powers that be realize they are going to have to go in and save Terri. Greer and Felos are not going to budge. She WILL DIE by starvation dehydration unless they act and act NOW to stop this travesty of justice. Pray for Terri, pray for justice to be served.

I agree, you havent heard from him since Larry King,however yesterday he called a radio station and said"Iam not taking the money, this proves all along I am not in it for the money". Also he claims he was recently offered 10 million from someone in Boca Raton FL-does anyone know who this was and why this wasnt made public? I cant ever believe what he says, someone who would betray his wife like he did has no credibility at all. He reminds me of Scott Peterson so much.

QUITE RIGHT! this refusal is all for the cameras. We won't know until 5pm Monday if he TRUELY rejects it.

If he IS inclined to take it, watch for some 'hero' to come forth and claim to have 'negotiated' the hubbie into accepting it against his nature.

But more likely there is MUCH more money than that waiting for him soon after she dies...

1.2 mill (after legal expenses) from the 1.7 settlement, which was then invested in stocks, and likely tripled (as the stock market did) in the next 5 years, -- minus 500K taken out with Greer's permission for lawyers.

Terri doesn't have to talk literally. The abuse, neglect and exploitation she has suffered will be exposed if Florida Dept. of Children and Families is allowed to do its investigation. I want to see Michael Schiavo behind bars with Dr. Death Kervorkian. Michael Schiavo and Kervorkian - perfect cell mates. Deserve each other. Maybe George Felos will end up with them for using Terri's funds meant for rehab/therapy but instead went into his money grubbing disgusting evil hands.
