Well, who knows what the follow-up investigation will find -- but you can be damn sure that the perp knew exactly which deputy would be the easiest to overpower.

There was a cop killed on duty about ten years ago in an incident involving a suspect who wrestled a gun away from the cop's female partner. I couldn't imagine working in a law enforcement job where any number of my fellow officers are held to lower standards.
