Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)
WAGA-TV/WSB-TV Atlanta | 3.11.05

Posted on 03/11/2005 6:39:06 AM PST by mhking

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

I don't know how she did it. She is an amazing woman. flipped to LK and she was speaking about the the shootings. They did not keep her on long. Praying for her and the families.

Dont get personal about Louisiana, we are just a little bit primitive. But I don't think we marry first cousins yet.

the press conference is on right now-930 EST. Boy, this police spokesman does not give a good impression of his agency. I am sure he is a nice guy, but man, I would not be afraid of trying to outwit this crew!

Now I recall that someone said the chief of things down there in Atlanta is a refuge from the Dinkins administration in NYC. Good Grief!

"If the story is correct that the female deputy was in the room alone with the perp while he was changing clothes--that is strange."

It is strange. We always had two officers when transporting an inmate. On outside transports, two officers were required. One carried, the other didn't. Usually the officer driving the vehicle didn't carry the weapon. Inmates were always fully restrained: handcuffs, leg irons, waist chain, padlocked blackbox to keep cuffed hands in rigid position. If the inmate was male, at least one of the transporting officers HAD to be a male. I'm a female and worked 23+ years in all-male facilities in the NYS prison system...uniformed staff, first as an officer and then as a Sergeant for last 13 years of my career.

She was not reported to be alone while he was dressing. I heard she went in to take off his cuffs so he could dress and she was alone with her weapon, against the protocol. No one has said she was in the cell while he dressed but the poster you replied to and I don't know where she got that information. It is false as far as I know.

My deepest sympathy for your current yankeedom. You could always marry a nice southern girl and then you would know all about cousins. And she could cook. And make you a nice bourben and branch water. And she would not be very liberated,,just enough that you would think she was adorable.

From the DA interview didn't think the female officer was alone with him while he was changing....but then again it's been a confusing day...They emphasised extra protection had be requested and granted......SO what happened...How did he get by EVERYONE? Down 8 floors and out the building to the parking garage without people seeing or trying to stop him?

The newspaper reporter who was carjacked mentioned that the guy didn't have a shirt on. Makes one think that he was in the middle of changing when he got the gun from the guard. But that doesn't mean she was in the room with him. He possibly was dressing alone and then got her to come into the room with him.

Come to think of it, I was once interested in a third cousin, I think, but it was just too much for me to follow through with. Maybe I am not that smart, after all.

in NC you could marry your first cousin

It is legal to marry your first cousin in many states, including my own state, California.

He went from the holding cell across the bridge commecting the two buildings, there was a crossover on the floor he was on to the judge's chambers. then he killed and then he left. He was determined.

What is your opinion of this Police Chief giving the press conference right now? I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the man isn't giving me much confidence. I honestly can't understand how this guy got out of the courthouse and possibly out of town. I sure hope he isn't heading toward Florida.

That surprises me. I thought it was illegal everywhere.

I was wildly in love with my first cousin when I was about 14 and was deeply saddened, in a tragic 14 year old way, that we couldn't marry. It was like a dramatic teenagers glory moment, Romeo and Juliet. I got over it.

Thanks for the info--it certainly makes sense. I'll bet you have bundles of interesting stories from your career!

It's very easy once you get the hang of it, like learning to count back change properly. Siblings have the same parents. When siblings have kids, those kids are each other's first cousins. First cousins have one set of common grandparents. When first cousins have kids, all their kids are second cousins to each other. Second cousins have at least one set of common great-grandparents. When second cousins all have children, those children are third cousins to each other. Third cousins have at least one set of common great-great-grandparents. Earlier I mentioned I had a teacher who was my first cousin twice removed. She was my grandaddy's first cousin, that's all it means. She was his first cousin and I'm two generations removed from my granddaddy, hence first cousin twice removed.
