What did you hire them to do and what did you pay them?
How come nobody ever talks about it?
In practice, it does not always work out that way. Why did you fire him? No reason. Well if there was no reason why you fired him, then why did you? etc. etc. Then if you give a wrong reason, you open yourself up to losing the lawsuit. So no matter what the state law says, if you own a business, make sure you keep a detailed file on every employee that records their mistakes so that you can always point to a good reason for firing someone.
Don't you think this firing was thought out?
That's not even close to being the same. How many Catholics demand time off to do that? Few, if any, and Ash Wednesday comes ONCE A YEAR - not every day at sunset. Both you and the other guy are totally off base in my opinion.

I'll 'bidah' all I like, thank you. And as for a 'little bit of a fatwa' I have a feeling that's already been attended to...your replies to my questions indicate a thorough understanding of TROP, with all its complexities and planetary-worshipping origins. Allah is nothing but a a piece of space-junk; if islam had an equivalent to The Lord's Prayer, it would commence: Our Rock Who Art in Heaven.
Why do you think muslims throw rocks at the devil during the hajj? They are doing what 'allah' did. Idiots, they worship a 'god' that threw rocks at them? Oh well, why not? Planetary worship, comets and bolides that rain down from the sky at intervals, were worshipped by arab tribes for millenia before mohammad drew his first breath. Arab nomads carried aerolites as good luck charms.
Interesting archeological evidence of stone-worship:

Needs time; hundreds of photographs. Brilliant site.
I imagine if these were christians praying, there wouldn't be a push to rehire them out of any of these groups. I would imagine that CAIR and the ACLU would go on record as agreeing with Dell.
But the cross on Mt. Soledad in San Diego has to come down. Children in public schools cannot pray at lunch time. The Ten Commandments cannot be displayed on public property. Nativity scenes cannot be displayed on public property at CHRISTmas time and public school children are out for Winter Break, not for CHRISTmas. Christianity is being torn asunder by the ACLU, atheists who sue over the Pledge of Allegiance and groups like CAIR who try to force employees to allow anybody but Christians to practice their religion in the workplace. This HAS TO STOP. We have to take back our own country, period.</p>
(I'm currently using Sony VAIOs but their battery life is depressing...)
Yes there is.
Fabulous post!
I remember my two brief experiences working in factories, in the heat of the summer
they weren't going to allow us to take any breaks, they hassled us even to go to the bathroom
now I realize that was against the law
but we were teenagers working a summer job for $2.15 per hour
some people are just slave drivers
how many Dell employees go for ciggie breaks every 30 minutes
You mean like in schools?
"And Ash Wednesday comes but once a year"
How true. I always love it when someone says "what if..." as if the scenario were possible. The islamics here(lead by CAIR)are trying to scream discrimination because 30-odd people cannot take at least 3 breaks a day to have their prayers-all at once!
Some here forget thet the law allows reasonable accomodation, not absolute accomodation. The company is well within it's rights to say "whoa" here.
Last I looked, Ash Wednesday is once a year--so why the silly analogy? I know plenty of Catholics that get their ashes before or after work, not during.
The last time I heard a statement like yours, it was from the mouth of a devoted Anti-Catholic.
Jan,If CAIR wishes to pull that crapola with Dell, I WILL bya couple of 'puters fromthem just on the priciple of it. If you want, I'll even send ya one! :-)
CAIR is a fraud--the Jesse Jackson of the islamic world
I have a VAIO laptop--are their any other battery companies I can get a better one from?
I, too, will get a Dell or two if CAIR tries something stupid!

And there I was, considering starting my own "religion" with a requirement to point our collective buttocks skywards 10 times during the work day and a refreshing our spiritual needs with several cans of Bud, and time off for our "holy month" in honor of, errrmm... one of our "prophets," the great Homer J...
Opens up a whole new can of possibilities...think I'll start my own little religion, too. I'll get back to you when I've got it all worked out, gotta find me a prophet first, hey, what about Karl Marx? He's a good one, he said people who work for wages are nothing but wage-slaves, that's a great start! I'll invent a perpetual-motion machine that does all the work, never needs maintenance, doesn't need replacement parts, and we can all sit under a tree on some tropical island eating breadfruit, drinking kava while the government sends us money...wanna join?
