SANTA MARIA, Calif. Mar 10, 2005 A judge issued an arrest warrant for Michael Jackson on Thursday after he failed to show up for his child molestation trial on time and his attorney announced the singer was being treated for a serious back problem.
Superior Court Judge Rodney S. Melville said he would also forfeit Jackson's $3 million bail unless he appeared in court within one hour.
The announcement came after a few minutes after court was to have begun. Jackson's accuser was expected to begin a second day of testimony against the singer.
The jury was not yet in the courtroom when the judge entered.
Jackson's lawyer, Thomas Mesereau Jr., said, "Mr. Jackson is at Cottage Hospital in Santa Ynez with a serious back problem. He does plan to come in."
The judge, obviously angry, declared, "I'm issuing a warrant for his arrest. I"m forfeiting his bail. I will hold the order for one hour."
Mesereau had been observed talking urgently on his cell phone for about a half-hour before the session was to begin.
Jackson has had health problems that previously interrupted the proceedings. During the first week of jury selection he went to a hospital with flu symptoms. But he has been on time or early since then.
10 bucks says he is back in the pediatric ward again
Not another wardrobe malfunction!
LOL He needs to come up with something else; his sister already used that lame-assed excuse.
"...Wow. This judge isn't taking any crap! Maybe he isn't as dazzle by the media lights as judge ito was...."
Yes. The anti-Ito.
ping
Fox news says he has until 12:35 ET to get there. Whattya bet he walks in a few minutes later even if he got there at 12:30?
Coming up on the two minute warning. Justice ahead Jackson lagging behind. Can Jacko score from downtown?
The time has now expired. Should be interesting to see what his sob story is...from behind bars. Although I will believe it when I see it.
Book'em Dan-o!
Oh here he is! Pajama clad and catatonic.
LOL
A talking head TV legal analyist type said (yesterday) the jury was looking at the witness and listening very intently, and not looking at Michael Jerkson. I thought this statement was a bomb! Perhaps the gloved one saw this too. Those prison cots will give you a bad back. Let's hope....
"Oh here he is! Pajama clad and catatonic.
LOL"
any pics of this???
Yeah...and the media is playing right along with his "obvious distress."
Another point that should be made, I think, is that Jackson may be playing the accuser with this charade. IOW, he may be hoping to play on the boy's heartstrings by looking pathetic in court, all straggly with mussed hair, dressed in hospital scrubs. "Look what you're doing to me! You're killing me!" That may be the message Jackson hopes the boy will get when they see each other in court today, the day when the boy was scheduled to lay his accusations out in stark detail.
Jackson is low-life scum.
Actually, I could disable myself by dressing carelessly, but my backbone is about as sturdy as wet cardboard. Back problems aren't always obvious; however, as you rightly imply, anyone who can caper around onstage for 2 hours, doesn't have a back problem for going into court on time.
Rita Cosby on Fox said the judge gave Jacko a 15 minute grace and he got there with 5 minutes to spare.
He probably threw it out giving his date a good-night kiss...
