Same phony bravado as "The Mother of All Wars" we got from tin pot dictator Hussein. The Iranians would fold just as quickly, and their people would turn on them in a flash.

You're first on our list, Kharizi . By the way, is it true that your name, translated in english, means "Raper of Camel"?

Nice to see Baghdad Bob is working again.
Based on their performance in the Iran Iraq war, the Iranians don't have much to brag about.

The problem is that this would alienate the wishy-washy Mohammedans, who we are beginning to win over.

Same phony bravado as "The Mother of All Wars" we got from tin pot dictator Hussein. The Iranians would fold just as quickly, and their people would turn on them in a flash. Assuming that Iran is ruled by a "tin pot dictator" from a 20% Sunni minority ruling over rebelious Kurds and dispossed Shiite majority, the war on Iran would require only three times more resources (Iran is three times larger)
So if everything goes perfect 800,000 US troops are needed for the campaign, half trillion dollars and 500,000 troops to occupy Iran for a few years (with the extra few hundred millions dollars later).
If things go wrong, the cost can double or triple. This could meand 2,000,000 troops, general draft and costs above trillion. And this would not help the operations in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I think the way we would go about it is to first establish an insurgency within Iran, then coordinate and/or fight alongside them to defeat the Mullah & their brainless Morons. More of the Afgan War model than the Iraq War model.
(Luckily for us, the Northern Alliance was already going in Afganistan when 9/11 hit....)
