In other news, the city changed its name to just "Diego." Yes, over half the cities in California will need to be renamed, since they refer to Saints.

Your comment reminds me of a national monument in El Salvador consisting of a large globe on top of a pedestal and Christ on top of the globe. It is the monument to the Savior of the World (Salvador del Mundo) and it is a national monument, not a Church monument. The name of the country is The Savior so it would be difficult for the atheists to push too much separation.

I'd like to see these gerk-offs try to get the cross of the mount in Rio taken away. The Brazilians would cook them in a pot. We are slowly sinking in this old USA and there seems to be no help available.

This reminds me totally of the similar brouhaha in San Francisco (I grew up there).
There was (is) a giant cross on Mt Davidson, and it might still be there.
The legal wrangling went on for years, But I believe that the cross is still in place. It was used every year for sunrise Easter services, as I recall.
Does anyone know its present status?

In other news, the city changed its name to just "Diego." Or how about, "Dude"? Paganland would probably be more accurate though.
