I seriously doubt that Commie Dan was ever a Boy Scout. The Scouts inculcated certain values, such as trustworthiness, loyalty, etc.

CBS Heads have been saying publically that RATHER has not yet been re-assigned to '60 Minutes.'
The now retired CBS News team of CRONKITE & HEWITT (producer of '60 Minutes') is now suddenly blasting RATHER to distance themselves from his TV lies...
...in order to protect longtime TV lies of their own.
The only one out there going around saying he'll be working at CBS and reporting on '60 Minutes' after stepping down as TV News Anchor is...
...DAN RATHER.
DAN RATHER LIED.
WALTER CRONKITE LIED.
'60 MINUTES' LIED.
CBS NEWS DIED.

i couldn't disagree more. CBS News's ratings are in the crapper. CBS News is a laughing stock of both conservative AND liberal media (who love to eat their own like Piranha).
Rather would never admit that the TANG story was a phony, but it doesn't matter because a majority of the public has concluded so anyway (all they have to do is think about it).
Rather has not retired, he has "been retired", from CBS News, from Anchor, as managing editor, and when 60 Minutes is gone, then he is totally gone. Read between the lines, man. This is a face-saving "gradual withdrawal". In short order, no one will hear from Rather again because everybody, especially CBS News, clearly understands that his credibility is shot. He is road kill.

I luckily got to see a tape later...well, I don't know if I am "lucky"...but frankly, it was one of the worst news shows I have seen. Usually CBS at least has some semblance of attempted balance. Not today.....they were clearly not trying to be fair..if anything, they were trying to stick it to Bush. Sick.
Ya sure. After 24 years as Major Domo, Anchor, Managing Editor, lead Attack Dog on 60 Minutes, and after tossing everyone in his path under the train for 24 years, he is going to go back to "reporter", and they are going to let him do that? I'd sooner expect Kim Jong Il to resign as Dictator For Life and become a corporal in the NK Army. LOL!

I'm sure you didn't miss a thing. Like always with a Dan Rather newscast.
Instead of watching a Dan Rather's swan song, my wife and I took the kids to see Winn-Dixie. Nice family movie. Actually portrayed a southern minister without him losing his faith and then telling God what the rules are (I kept expecting that throughout the movie).
If you have kids, take them.
Rather and CBS had announced that Rather would retire on March 9th, 2006 on his 25th aniversary. Rather wanted to hold the job for 25 years. They spun that as having announced his retirement in March months before the Bush story hit. But it was to be in March 2006 not March 2005.
Dan was asked to resign one year before he had agreed to leave. Getting Dan to resign saves CBS 7 million dollars. Since Dan resigned they don't have to pay him the 7 million for the next year. If they had fired Dan it would have cost CBS 7 million more dollars.
What your post proves is that the main stream media can lie to you and you will believe it.
Now with the one inaccuracy in your post cleared up.. Let me rewrite it for you.

Nixon would still be consulted by future presidents especially on foreign Policy. They included Ford, Reagan, and Bush 41..
Nixon had a good laugh on the night he resigned!.
AND by the TV and Radio talk shows that gave Nixon tons of publicity.

I got to watch the whole broadcast after I posted about the attacks on federal judges - all I meant was impeachments, not real violence.
