PB Exclusive: A source--at least as "close to the process" as The Denver Post's source--tells us that CU's buyout offer will be in the "$3-$5 million range - possibly higher"

If they give Chief Loonybird his wampum, the exact amount of said wampum should be subtracted from the this next fiscal year's university share by the state government. If he is paid $4 million, then the University gets $4M less in it's budget share. This is easily done. If the state legislature doesn't do this, the taxpayers should be taking a dimestore Indian's axe to the statehouse door. U of C pays him, the state debits them.

There could be a blessing in disguise here, CB. The operation of Amendment 23, permanent above-inflation auto-pilot spending on K-12 education, plus TABOR's spending limits has created massive spending cuts for higher ed. The Dems and RINO's are coming out this fall for a measure to weaken TABOR, but do nothing about 23, of course, to help fund higher ed.

Outrage over this outrage could help us defeat this misguided plan.
