Theft at home construction sites has NEVER been a major problem here before.

There are numerous job ads in Palm Springs, California for 24/7 security guards to prevent these kinds of theft.

The builder I spoke with had a home Security System installed in the house we looked at, but it was almost ready to sell.

The problem is widespread, involving many different areas where there is new construction. It might help abit, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Your reference to California brought to mind an item
from Victor Davis Hanson's web in which he mentions that
CA is now spending $450 million just to incarcerate the
illegals. This in a bankrupt state! Mexico gladly exports
its millions to the U.S. because of the millions they send
home. We are now facing bankrupt school districts, insolvent hospitals, an influx of drugs, disease, and
demands on an overburdened social service system. We've
not YET heard from the terrorists who may be crossing
with the others. We also suffer from a failure of
leadership -- from Bush and Congress -- to protect our
borders from foreign invasion as mandated by the Constitution. They are TOTALLY out of touch with the vast
majority (last poll 70%) of Americans who are enraged to
see our sovereignty destroyed as we become a dumping
ground for third world illegals. The sunami of illegals
cannot possibly be assimilated or absorbed in any
rational way. Bush may have the dubious distinction of
being the President who lost the Mexican War (1845-48)
after the first was reversed. And lost it by surrender--
a euphemism for amnesty (guest worker program).
