Ever since Prime Minister Paul Martin announced Canada's pullout from Ballistic Missile Defense program, Canadians have been on the lookout for a significant reaction from south of the border.I repeat, the US should dissolve NORAD. Canada should be considered a "debris field" and not defended territory anymore. The Canadians and the US can go their own way in air defense.

What has Paul Martin done for Canada since he became Prime Minister? The Liberals sit on a budget surplus and have no idea of what to do with it.

"Canadian firms may now have to overcome two handicaps when competing in key American markets -- the long-standing handicap that they are not American and the new handicap in the post-Iraq environment that they are Canadian."Welcome to the real world of economics and international relations.
Say ... how is the Muskrat farming business going, now that the Hawks are all gone?
You say no one is buying fur?
How about pot ... yeah there you go. Grow some pot.

We can't - we need their radars. Not anymore. I was once in NORAD and spent some time on the US side of the "DEW" line. Above the horizon is not adequate acquisition for an ABM defense. The US doesn't need Canada, the US only needs space, and there are no Canadians up there. Condi's right to have better things to do than bother with the pink Canucks

And they might ask the French how their wine sales to the US are going, too.

There isn't that much research and development in Canada." And now there will be less. As the article says, a very ignorant and short sighted decision.

Beef blockade? What beef blockade? Oh that beef blockade? Completely unrelated to your government stabbing us in the back. Nope, no relation at all.

Naval based arrays and the arrays North of Fairbanks should cover most of the needs. However, you are right, this leaves a chink in the radar armor. Sattelite based sensors may be able to account fo rthe difference though.
