Computer models are showing an interesting relationship between star-quakes and earthquakes. Supernova, star-quakes and similar burst of energy in the Universe triggers earthquakes and tsunamis.
According to researchers, most of the large earthquakes and Tsunamis happened when there was a burst of energy somewhere in the cosmos.
According to BBC, Astronomers say they have been stunned by the amount of energy released in a star explosion on the far side of our galaxy, 50,000 light-years away.
The flash of radiation on 27 December was so powerful that it bounced off the Moon and lit up the Earth's atmosphere.
The blast occurred on the surface of an exotic kind of star - a super-magnetic neutron star called SGR 1806-20.
One calculation has the giant flare on SGR 1806-20 unleashing about 10,000 trillion trillion watts.
Now computer models are showing that the burst of energy reached the earth slightly before the major earthquake happened which triggered the Tsunami.
Looking at the past, the computer models are finding a clear correlation between earthquakes, major volcanoes, and landslides, Tsunamis with major burst of energies reaching the earth due to earthquakes.
The models are also showing that the galactic cosmos level energy busts dictate intra-planetary tectonic movements.
It seems that the Universe is connected through these cosmos level energy bursts. If this theory is proven true then it can conjecture that major tectonic movements are caused by major events in the Universe. In other words, different parts the Universe is virtually interconnected.
LOL, wait until you read the following:

Space mark.
Well, this is true. But on the wrapper I have in my currently nicotine stained fingers, Starbursts are energy quakes.
And sweet too.
Pretty soon some crackpot is going to tell us that solar flares cause the Northern Lights or that the continents can move!
For those skeptics out there, the article did not say they had "proved" star eruptions caused earthquakes. The said there was a correlation. Of course correlation is not enough. Strong and frequent correlation is required. Sure there were people who farted before the earthquake, but there are billions of farts that were not followed by quakes (other than in the same room!). These guys are proposing an hypothesis (NOT a theory). The job of science is to determine if the hypothesis is correct. It often takes quite a while.
Remember when people laughed at Dick Tracy's wrist radio? Did you ever see a picture of the first transistor? If a picture of something like that were published today, those guys would be laughed off the planet. The computer you are typing on right probably has over 50 million of them.
Science would get nowhere without people with the guts to propose that which is unusual and open it to examination by competent people. Thankfully they don't mind being laughed at. They laughed at Wegener (or despised him). http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/history/wegener.html
Now THEY just look stupid.
Laughter often preceeds success. I'm sure we would have laughed loud and long at a newsman (even Dan Rather) who told us a loony in a cave could bring down the WTC.
That is a well written post making some excellent points.
That makes sense, SubMareener.
Excellent link. I'm bookmarking it right now as a good reference. Thank you!
No, no, no. It's line dancing, usually in Texas.

Please add me to your ping list...two of my sons are very interested in earth science...we look for info like this!!! Thanks a bunch, PaMom
Wow. That is soooooooo retarded. :)
Hey P, thought you might like to, ahem, see this.
India Daily is an utterly and completely worthless source run by kooks that basically just randomly makes stuff up.
This is the same source that talked about secret underground UFO bases in the Himalayas.
Notice they didn't actually cite any sources; they just sort of vaguely hinted they were reporting the research of (non-existent, btw) scientists.
People have really got to stop posting India Daily nonsense, and taking it seriously.
My opinion on this may not sound scientific, however, I think it fits this article to a tee. One word says it all:
Flapdoodle!
(or you could use the word codswallop as well LOL)
Nope. Gravity waves do not travel faster than the speed of light.

This page will give those who are curious (like myself) a very good explanation why you replied "flapdoodle" to the article.
Uh oh.
Got a link to a paper on this?
*sigh* I'm doing my part to prevent earthquakes...
