Terrorism: Al-Qa'ida of Jihad in the United States Claims Responsibility for Explosion at Texas Refinery

On 24 March, "Abd-al-Aziz al-Muqrin" posted to the Al-Ikhlas forum, his first participation, a statement issued by the al-Qa'ida of Jihad Organization in the United States of America [Tanzim Qa'idat al-Jihad fi al-Wilayat al-Mutahidah al-Amrikiyah] in which the group claimed responsibility for the explosion at the Texas oil refinery. The group promised to issue a more detailed statement and a videotape of the operation. The Saudi Al-Ikhlas forum at ekhlaas.com/forum is critical of the US and Saudi Government and dropped its password requirement in late December.

A translation of the statement follows:

"First statement regarding the blessed Texas refinery explosion

Praise be to God, the Subjugator of un-belief and polytheism at the hands of his fierce soldiers, the Supporter of His blessed soldiers against his and their failing enemies, and prayers and peace be upon the most honorable of all mankind, our Prophet, the guide [to the straight path], the chosen and trustworthy one, and upon all of his family and companions, and those followed them until the Day of Judgment.

Here are the lions of war striking America on its own soil and at the hands of its own sons in the middle of its soldiers and intelligence despite security barriers never before seen since her creation. The leader Abu-Hamzah has acted upon his promise and covenant according to which he had sworn to turn your streets red with blood by God's help.

This has been and continues to be the only way to rub the nose of the most powerful country in the world in the dirt. Just as you attack our security and spill our blood everywhere the monotheists are found, we will meet you with the same; an eye for an eye works. A more detailed statement will be issued with a video tape of the blessed operation in the main refinery in Texas.

We wish to remind you that we are going to release some hostages who had almost discovered some of the issues related to the operation. The execution of [the operation] was delayed for this reason, until the security barrier completion reached 98 percent for a successful execution. Praise and thanks be to God first and foremost.
