They did rule out terrorism pretty fast, but then, they always do. IMO
That's a scary scenario you posted and could happen very easily.
I agree, it has been very quiet lately.

Howdy folks! Just checking in. Every thing is quiet, peaceful, and normal here.

Please be extra vigilant folks. With Easter this weekend, I'm sure our enemies would love to pull off an attack.

FNC Shephard Smith has a guy on now discussing Al-Queda linked groups traing scuba divers.

Didn't we see a scuba diver in an AQ picture a couple of years ago? Didn't we discuss divers at length?

Divers could be used to sabotage nuclear plants near rivers (such as TMI); they could also be used to place mines. Interestingly, some time ago it was discussed on TM that a number of mines from North Korea had "gone missing."

Hi crabbie....I am hundreds of posts behind....but there was an incident last year in one of the waterways in NY when the area was shut down and divers were checking underwater on the bottoms of ships for explosive devises. It was definately discussed on one of the TM threads.

Also, odd divers found in FL, HI and IIRC also NY area. One was even a dead body found in a diving suit that they could not identify.

Bush decries border project

(And here is the truth folks)

President Bush yesterday said he opposes a civilian project to monitor illegal aliens crossing the border, characterizing them as "vigilantes."
He said he would pressure Congress to further loosen immigration law.

ENER - BP refinery: No doubt this is just a coincidence
No doubt this is just a coincidence
Still, I couldn't help but notice.

This story just came in:

TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) - All but one of the 1,800 or so oil refinery workers have been accounted for after overnight search efforts following the thunderous blast that killed 14 and injured more than 100, officials said Thursday....
BP refinery records indicate the one unaccounted-for worker checked out and left the refinery, but no one has heard from him, Parus said. Those who died were all contractors for Los Angeles-based field services company J.E. Merritt, he said....

This one is from last July:

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Law enforcement officials said on Monday they are looking for a man seen taking pictures of two refineries in Texas City, Texas....
The man, described as white with dark hair, was seen taking pictures outside the refineries, all located on the same highway, at about 5 p.m. CDT on Saturday, said Bruce Clawson, emergency management and homeland security director for Texas City....

"This is based on the idea that al Qaeda does its homework," Clawson said. "That's not to say we don't have enough home-grown idiots already who might want to do something."

And this one from January 2004:

While FBI, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs, the U.S. Coast Guard, state police and local law enforcement sources are publicly downplaying terrorism fears in the shooting of a guard at a BASF Corp. ammonia terminal in Freeport, Texas, some of those same sources are telling Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, off the record, they strongly suspect the guard stumbled into a terrorism reconnaissance operation....
Robbie House, the guard, questioned the driver of the truck about why he was in the vicinity of a large, multi-story ammonia tank. He told police the truck driver explained that he was taking pictures of it. When the guard turned to radio for help, the driver pulled out a handgun and shot House in the shoulder....

Of course, this explosion was most likely just an accident, but the vulnerability of the refineries has long been noted.

No One Injured In Explosion At Tulsa's Sinclair Refinery

A powerful explosion rocked the Sinclair refinery complex in west Tulsa Monday afternoon, sending up a huge fireball and black smoke.

There's no word on the cause, but as News on 6 reporter Steve Berg explains, it caused plenty of concern for the people who saw it.

Witnesses say the thundering blast was heard as far as five miles away. Braden Bartholic was doing landscaping work on the east side of the Arkansas River. "I saw an explosion, a fireball that was just giant, it was loud, loud, and I couldn't believe how loud it was." Somehow, despite the size of the explosion, nobody was hurt at the complex and everyone was quickly accounted for.

"There were people in the normal work vicinity, but no one was injured and we're allowing it right now to kind of burn itself out." Sinclair spokesman John Goodwin says Sinclair's fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control.

He says it happened in the middle of the complex in what he called a Penex unit, which refines gasoline. He says the blast originated in a flare drum, a relatively small container about the size of a car, but he wasn't sure if anything was in the drum at the time.

"It was out of service for maintenance right now and has been out of service for maintenance at the time. We don't the cause of the explosion or anything at this time. We'll have a committee formed and we'll investigate that."

With gas prices already skyrocketing, gas production is a big concern, but Sinclair says supplies should not be affected significantly.

While they're not certain about the exact cause, Sinclair has already ruled out terrorism or any weather-related cause.

The Sinclair Refinery is located on West 25th near US Highway 75.
