JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The upstairs neighbor of an Egyptian Christian family found slain in their home in January was charged Friday, along with another man, in the murders.
Edward McDonald, 25, who rented a second-floor apartment above Hossam Armanious and his family, pleaded not guilty to four counts of felony murder. Hamilton Sanchez, 30, faces the same charges and also pleaded not guilty.
Sanchez during a court hearing began crying as he stood before a judge, his hands cuffed behind his back.
"I didn't kill nobody. I didn't kill nobody, man. I didn't kill nobody, people," Sanchez said, as he was led from the courtroom. McDonald stared at the floor during the hearing.
Both men, who were on parole for different drug offenses, were ordered held on $10 million cash bail.
Authorities said Armanious, 47; his wife, Amal Garas, 37, and their children - Sylvia, 15, and Monica, 8 - were slain three days before their bodies were found Jan. 14.

But just a few posts ago, you said:
No one in the US, or in Oz, or the whole wide world would ever have pointed a finger at muslims if their clerics in mosques everywhere didn't preach, we, the Christians, the Jews, the Hindu, the calathumpians what have you, are filthy dirty kuffar, infidels whom allah doesn't want to live on this planet.Other than the latter, it sounds like you're saying it's not actually all Muslims who are the problem. And that's the same point I am making--that I believe there can be variations of Islamic belief.
Mosque and Saudi-funded schools, and American prisons.
But then the ploy is to lure us down from our high ground, into the mud with them.
"Decapitation Cover for Criminals" Ping
Hey, we gotta go with that because we're giving them democracy! Iraq will govern itself and be a country friendly to the West (I hope) even though the majority of its citizens are muslim. Let them shine a light throughout the ME.
I have less faith in that than Bush does, but I can hope! It's not like the ME has been a very peaceful place anyway.
LOL! "It's not like the ME has been a very peaceful place anyway."
You mean since the arabs crossed over toward Egypt from the Arabian Peninsula around 1,500CBC and took the entire egyptian kingdom captive, plundered and looted and ruled there for more than 400 years from Thebes, and were finally driven out from the fortress city of Avaris by the first king of the Hebrews, Saul, who gathered two hundred thousand men and ten thousand footmen from Judah, and restored the kingdom of egypt to its former glory, for which he received no thanks nor recognition from the new egyptians rulers?
Peace in the ME. If we see it in our lifetimes, it will be the first time in recorded history.
LOL! Was it something he said?
(The point about Canada and NJ was that in both cases, people are in more danger because criminals have less fear of confronting victims. It's a shame that in this case, there was no deterrent effect that might have prevented these perps from confronting the family directly. :-(

Your profile says you reside in PA and you don't even know that Jersey City residents are armed to the teeth ?
LOL
The ATF set up a satellite office in Jersey City just to stem the tide of illegal guns proliferating
there. Beside illegal guns, many law abiding citizens take pains to get guns in J.C.
"City of Jersey City v. Smith & Wesson Corp., Superior Court of New Jersey
On March 28, 2002, Jersey City sued the gun industry. With the Legal Action Project as co-counsel, Jersey City filed a lawsuit against numerous gun manufacturers and dealers for irresponsible business practices that contribute to Jersey City's high level of gun violence."
BTW, Kindly go contact the Police Institute at Rutgers University if you wish to dispute the fact that Jersey City residents are highly armed.

Introduction Between the Fall of 1998 and June 2001, a group of Middle Eastern men living in New Jersey is caught on tape in an ATF weapons sting conspiring to buy millions of dollars of weapons including components for nuclear bombs. Three years after the operation ended, all of the people involved in the deal are free. snip......
Will read the site and reply later...thanks.
Yes, I am so sure that your Jersey City stats about illegal weapons is highly relevant to this family. I'm sure the perps were aware this was a law-flouting family that would have illegal weapons, rather than a prime-for-the-picking law-abiding Christian family.
"Awww...Daddy....just tell us again how the FReepers cried 'Muslim!' when the nuclear plant in Michigan had a shutdown!"
I'm sure the law is no deterrent to law-abiding citizens carrying concealed. </sarc>
"Nope, I'm not prepare to point the finger at Jihadwatch as the source for anything at all."
Well, Jihad watch says he was the source of some info, but it apears he might have been suckered into passing on bogus intel.
"Shall I go on? "
Well I'm impressed, except for the "wiped off the face of the earth" bit you've got it fairly close. Most religions think everyone else is going to hell, and are heathens. Most religions tell you to keep to your own kind.
... and if people want to strictly follow their own religious laws, as long as it dosen't effect someone else, I couldn't care less.
( I've even got fellow freepers who think I'm "abborant" - somehow my heart will live on )
"Even muslims themselves are waking up in Oz, a group of twenty muslim organisations have petitioned for the removal of a radical imam from a mosque in one of our capital cities. If some muslims can see the cleric's wahhabi teachings are an evil source and influence, why can't you?"
This is GREAT news !
I've quoted Bush many times that the evil ones are the ones that have hijacked the religion with their distorted interpretations.
My friend, thanks for providing the proof of what I have been saying all along.
Hey Jan!
I don't buy it. Something is just wrong here. But regardless of what the truth is with regards to who actually killed these poor people, this family WAS threatened by muslims on an islamic website. Their pictures were put up on another islamic website with captions that indicated a sick joy at their deaths, and the manner of death. The muslim community in JC is crowing about getting an apology. An apology for WHAT? and from WHOM? The family? People like us? For assuming that someone of the islamic persuasion carried out their well publicized threat?
Sorry islamic community. I'm still waiting for my 9/11 apology, my 93 WTC attack apology, USS Cole apology, US Embassies bombing apology, the Fallujah massacre apology, Nick Berg apology, Daniel Pearl apology, the death of our troops defending islamic countries apology (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War I, Kuwait), etc.
I could go on, but I can tell your eyes have already glazed over.
islam can't accuse anyone of bigotry as the result of speculation that the crime may have been 'religiously' motivated. Their numerous threats based upon the koranic requirement that all infidels should die or don't deserve to live, is what pointed the finger straight at them. Not us.

This is an excellent point; and one which bears repeating (and probably will need to be repeated in the days, weeks, years to come).
The idea that this was an islamic hate crime did not grow in a vacuum. There were very clear signals from the islamic community itself that lead many people to believe this was a ritual anti-Christian slaughter. The pictures on an islamic web site of the family captioned by statements like "The pig and his wife are dead, praise be to Allah" and such only lead to further speculation of this sort.
And further, let's keep in mind who deserves our sympathy and prayers, and that is the Armanious family. I pray they have found some peace in God.
Two very good posts!
If she "broke free" why did they tie her up again and "puncture" her throat, these guys are "throat slitters" if anything, or, they could have beaten them to death, they were "helpless".

I was wondering that, too.
Why did they tie up the 8 year old again, to kill her? Or, why tie her up again after they killed her?
A lot of this makes no sense at all.
