KIEV - Ukraine President Viktor Yushchenko said Friday that a former interior minister who had been implicated in the murder of an opposition journalist and was found dead of an apparent suicide had "sentenced himself."

"Everyone has a choice," Yushchenko was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.

"Either cooperation with the tribunal, the prosecutor, give testimony... defend your rights and honor. There is a second possibility -- sentence yourself," he said.

Yushchenko spoke after former interior minister Yury Kravchenko was found dead at his elite country house outside Kiev hours before he was due to be questioned over the notorious 2000 slaying of reporter Georgy Gongadze.

"The dead" may also be indebted to those whom they might have exposed if the truth were told.

Nor can they turn State's evidence.

Conspiracy in this case can work both ways.

As well as condemn the present authorities. Men like this one are expendable and he should have been looking for a visa out a long time ago.

2 BULLET WOUNDS FOUND ON UKRAINE EX-MINISTER'S BODY

KIEV, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - According to unofficial information, two bullet wounds have been discovered on the body of Yuri Kravchenko, the former interior minister of Ukraine, who was found dead at his country house today, Channel Five of the Ukrainian television reports.

The Novosti-Ukraina news agency has failed to reach law-enforcers for comment.

The former Ukrainian minister was found dead at his country house outside Kiev on Friday. According to initial reports, he had committed suicide.

On Friday, Mr. Kravchenko was to come to the Prosecutor General's Office to testify on the case of Georgy Gongadze, a murdered journalist.

At the same time, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko does not rule it out that the murder of Yuri Kravchenko was an attempt to "close" the case of Georgy Gongadze.

The prime minister believes that "if Gen. Kravchenko had shot himself, it confirms that he must have been connected with "the Gongadze case."

bump, seems he was shot twice, posted on this thread. Now Yushchenko is quick to dismiss this as suicide. Seems about on the level of Saakashvili quick to dismiss Zhavdia's death as accidental (Zhavdia was his main political equal) before the docs even looked at the body. Hmmmm.

JB6, DESTRO the well trained propagandist of still dying Soviet Union are still at it, spreading disinformation.
Here is some info from Ukrainska Pravda, newspaper that rose on the memory of murdered journalist Gongadze. Now that investigation of his murder is in progress, guilty are acting.

What do we know about Kravchenko's death?

translated by Eugene Ivantsov , 4.03.2005, 18:25

the article by Ukrayinska Pravda

According to ITAR-TARS Kravchenko died at 7:45 AM.

Ex-Minister of Internal affairs was in his dacha-house with his wife, says RIA-NOVOSTI referring to “Inter” channel.

At around 7.00 AM Kravchenko went to the workshop. Ten minutes later the gun reported. His wife came down and found her husband’s body. He held gun in his right hand. As it turned out later that was his own officially registered gun. The shot was in his right temple. It’s not clear yet how many shot there were, one or two.

”UP” correspondent managed to find out that identifying witnesses told in an unofficial talk that Kravchenko’s body was found by his relatives in the evening.

The body has been found in a workshop (small house). Kravchenko held a gun in his hand. He was dressed up in khaki jacket. According to the identifying witnesses Kravchenko died from gunshot wound in the temple. There was one shot.

Other circumstances remain dim.

Kravchenko’s family led a reserved way of life. The police says even not all the neighbors agreed to give evidence. His corpse has been taken from dacha by forensic medical experts.
According to “UP” correspondent the investigation group’s working at the place of incident.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs preliminary claims Juriy Kravchenko committed suicide and maybe left a suicide note.

”According to the information obtained it’s no doubt that Kravchenko committed suicide”, said Petro Kolyada, the deputy of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Answering the question if Kravchenko left a suicide note he replied: “We do have something but I can’t tell you right now what exactly”.

Answering the question why Kravchenko committed suicide Kolyada said: “Why do people commit suicides? Everybody has his own motives and reasons. Maybe it’s the effect of mass media information (concerning Gongadze case). We’ll have to clear it up.

Kolyada said he couldn’t refer Kravchenko to Gongadze case, ‘cause the materials were transferred to the Office of Public Prosecutor: “I haven’t seen the documents. And I don’t have to see them” At the same time Kolyada told that he issued an order of providing guard and transport to investigators dealing with Gongadze case and to the deputy of the Attorney General

Back to defend your EU socialist that you cheerled for? You claim to despise the EU socialists but your candidate is like a dog in heat on their leg, doing everything, begging none stop to be let into the club. Rather pathetic actually. How does that make you feel, knowing you aided and abetted a socialist troll who'll surrender Ukraine's sovereignty ASAP.

Choice between two evils? Yushchenko far lesser evil than 14 years of commie apparatchicks Kravchuk, Kuchma. Time will tell. For democracy to flower it needs the base, grass roots and that is so screwed up by decades communism, that it will take a little longer to take roots.
I bet you agree what your comrade rasPutin is doing, ha?

That's funny since Yushchenko is a commie apparatchick who was, as I shouldn't have to remind you, a prime minister under Kuchma (who by the way, was the darling of the West when he was elected or rather stole the election from Kravchuk). And then their's Tymoshenko who with a little fanagiling was able to earn a nice $11 billion salary running the gas sector. Not bad for a public servant. Then the third in charge is head of the Ukrainian socialists and the fourth in charge is another oligarch. Great bunch.

Oh did you hear, seems some of Yushchenko's former Una-Unso body guards stayed around in Kiev, last seen beating down a black American diplomat.

Nice, bunch, they should fit in well with the racist French.

As for Putin, well 1 company Yukos is busted for 10 years of no tax payments (note it was never about the privatization) while in Ukraine anywhere from 20-3,000 companies will be stolen back (total seems to change every week).

For democracy to flower it needs the base, grass roots and that is so screwed up by decades communism, that it will take a little longer to take roots.

Yes, I'm sure the freedom loving EU will give Ukraine plenty of room for the grass roots to take root.

Oh, did you hear, your democrap Yushchenko, in true progressive style, is moving interior ministry troops into Donetsk and Dneipeptrovsk, wouldn't want any opposition protests, would we?

Yes, the NWO "democracy" on Ukraine needs a little tweaking before it reaches the heights of Georgia and Uzbekistan.

Putin stole Yukos thanks to false taxes accusations and Yuschenko said about 30 –40 companies which were recently privatized for pennies. But hey, you know that very well.

"found dead of an apparent suicide" means we can rule out suicide as teh cause of death. more likely assisted suicide/vince fosterized.
