Certain leftist dingbats twits (Mass is rife with them) feel that their child is in some weird way disadvantaged by being born wealthy and healthy and therefore not disadvantaged.

They need to invent a mechanism by which their precious child can earn the ostracism and victimhood by which liberals rate the worthiness of the individual.

If they can't make their wealthy little white girl a poor black child, they can at least make her a very special freakish outcast.

And in the process, the parents shore up their liberal bona fides by being so accepting of the freak they purposely invented.
