Prayer Thread for Terri Schiavo / Terri's Fight

This is meant to be gathering place for prayers and prayer requests on behalf of Terri and her family.

Two key concepts:

1) Credible eyewitness who visit Terri describe her as responsive, as indeed she was in the early '90s when she was taken out in her wheelchair to have her hair done or to visit a park.

Most recently a visit on Friday, 2/25/05 of her father, attorney David Gibbs, and Cheryl Ford, RN, described here and retold by Bob Schindler at his Jacksonville FL press conference on Monday, 2/28. No one has called him a liar or otherwise challenged his account.

2) Terri is denied even the most ordinary care given to any other patient in her condition.

The wheelchair she could get out in has been broken. It has not been repaired, and offers of new wheelchairs have been turned down.

I pray that Michael will finally feel free and able to get on with his life, and that he and others will simply allow Terri to get on with hers with her own family. That't it.

I send prayers daily for Terri and her family. I have even prayed for Michael to see the evil in his ways and change. I have prayed for God to show Judge Greer the way. There are 15 days left before the tube can be removed on the 18th. So, I ask that all of those FReeping for Terri continue to pray every day. It has kept her alive this long, if we keep it up it can keep her alive for a lot longer, under the care of her loving parents.

Our Father in Heaven I ask that you save Terri Schiavo's life. That you will not let such an unjust murder to take place and that you poor out your grace and mercy on Terri Schiavo. Lord I ask that you be with her family in this time as they fight to save their daughter. Give them strength to get through all of this. I also ask for you to touch Michael Schiavo's heart Lord and help him to turn from his sin and do the right thing for Terri. I ask that you be with judge Greer who up to this point has made numerous rulings that are so obviously bad. I ask that you help him to see that terri deserves life and deserves to be taken care of by her family. Please be with everyone involved with this to do everything in their power to save Terri. I ask this in your name Lord Jesus, AMEN!

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You for the community of believers that You have gathered worldwide on behalf of this mother's child. Only You, O God, have sustained her, for man would not. Only You, O God, have sustained her beloved family, else they would have succumbed to broken hearts. Only You, O God, have kept the tiniest cracks open in the doorway to the court of law, for others would have that they be shut. The wordless cries of this wounded woman would not be stilled, and we bow before You in adoration and praise that she is now loudly heard wherever people of good faith gather.

Quench the fire of hatred that rages against her ... may those who desire her death come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the fear of the Lord. Proclaim among the people, O God, that man cannot stand in Your place, for in Your hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:10. May they relent, and repent, for You are not willing that any should perish.

Look with favor upon the pleadings before the Judge tomorrow, O God. Grace Terri's attorneys with words of wisdom, that speak of life, that pierce the heart and conscience of a nation that casts aside the unborn, yet fervently protects the most vile criminal. Forgive us our national and personal sins, Merciful Father, that we might yet lay claim to Your tender mercies on behalf of this innocent woman. We continue to pray that You will bring forth that one Judge, as in the Gospel of Luke, who will rule righteously and well. Though he himself was not righteous, yet he finally granted relief, lest he become weary of a woman's continual appearing before him.

Terri's beloved mother and father and sister and brother have not wearied in seeking justice ... the prayers of kindred souls have not become wearisome over the years, but more fervent ... the soul-searching of a nation in its attitude over sanctity of life has been stirred. Lay not our sins against this innocent woman, O God, that we might set our hands to the tasks of protecting those who cannot protect themselves, whoever they are and wherever they may be.

May it be, Sovereign God, that Your loving hand, that has so protected this mother's child these many years, will open the door to Terri's prison, that once again this family may freely enter and leave, taking with them their beloved ... finally taking her home. In the Name of Jesus, the Christ, may it be thus, O Lord, may it be thus ... Amen ...

When I was reading in preparation for my prayer time a few nights ago, I read some verses in Ephesians that struck me as being relevant to Terri Schiavo's plight:

Ephesians 6:10-18 "10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmut of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,..."
