My all time vote for the absolute worst? "My girl Bill"
They didn't put the comma in the lyrics ("She's my girl, Bill.") until late in the song and it took a couple of weeks for any of us to listen to that much of it.

LOL, is that the song from Austin Powers?
I'm not sure. Here's a clip of the song I'm referring to:

"Don't Try to Lay No Boogie-Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll." total weirdness, this thread it really hooked into the universal subconscious. I thought of that song, for no good reason, about 5 posts before I read yours.
That is weird. I thought I was the only one who ever thought of that song.

Lou Christie - Lightnin' Strikes Basically, about a cheating guy who wants his "girl" to wait for him to finish sowing his wild oats.
This song takes on a whole new depth when you hear Klaus Nomi sing it.

I have to agree there. UFO's one of the most underrated bands IMO as well.
I was even pleasently surprised with their "Walk on Water" reunion release a few years back.
I don't have their live CD, but the song list is good. I have to give that one a listen.

You remember the one that was something about a horse getting lost. That was baaaad."She ran callin' 'Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiild Faaaahr!'"
'Wild Fire.' I heard that one speeded up to about 105 RPM on the radio once while it was popular. "Okay! There's only a couple minutes left in the hour and we PROMISED this one to a caller..." DJs were sick of it too. Had to be one of the funniest things I'd ever heard!"

I think Dusty Springfield was the artist and the year was about 1966. It's classic lyrics are probably available online. Fortunately, such greeting-card-worthy poetry has been made eternally available by virture of the net!

"Having My Baby" truly stank. Now that would have been an interesting gossip-worthy first song at a wedding! And, back in the olden days, it would have been appropriate on more than a few occasions!

Debbie Boone was a one-hit wonder. She tripped the light fantastic with one song and then went on to have four kids. In spite of her lack of commercial success, everytime she had another baby, Good Housekeeping put her on the cover, like she was the First Lady. You could always count on women's magazines to sell if they had on the cover Jackie O, Liz Taylor, Princess Di--or Debbie Boone's newest baby.
