What is the most awesomely bad love song ever? The one that makes you cringe when you hear it, but you just can't turn it off. What love song makes you shake your head, roll your eyes, laugh, gag, shed a tear, or just punch something because it's so horrendously great that you love to hate it. Or is it vice versa? VH1 is counting down the 40 Most Awesomely Bad Love Songs....The kind of songs that might end a relationship rather than enhance it. You get the drift.

Join us as we count down and celebrate fantastically cheesy lyrics, the best and worst metaphors, awkward and confusing themes, and of course, those strange, misguided flukes from our favorite artists, while our team of experts help explain why we've deemed these songs so (un)worthy. We've been covering our ears, shutting off the radio, and running from the room screaming for too long. It's time to ban these songs to our awesomely bad Hall of F(Sh)ame!

"No, the ultimate creepy love song is that transgenerational love ballad "Claire" by Gilbert O' Sullivan"

You get the prize IMO. That song nauseated me the first time I heard it in the '70s. Yecch!

To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair

But like a centipede that's hot...you're bound to feel the fire.

I like that song! I didn't realize Rebbie was Michael's sister.

Let's face it: ALL the songs listed on this thread truly sucked. Who do we petition to ask if we can have another whack at the seventies, and this time, lets try to get it right.

We're trying the 70's again. Same fashion. Same music. Same everything. Only thing different is that FM AOR can't save us this time. While most friends listened to AM schlock I was listening to AC/DC, The Who, and anything on WRSU.

I do remember a hideous non-love song about an animal---"Me and You and a Dog Named Boo."

Horrid.

"Sugar Shack" is one of my faves ! Such a catchy beat. And I also love Afternoon Delight.

What I don't like:

"Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass
"Worst That Could Happen" by Brooklyn Bridge

ANYTHING by the Righteous Brothers !

I feel protective of Brown Eyed Girl...a favorite since 1967 or so

My favorite songs typically remind me of a girl I once loved. If that's true of you as well, then she must have been drop-dead gorgeous to make you like Brown Eyed Girl

(shudder)

Oh A Tree In Motion

At least that is what I heard.

When I realized it was Poetry In Motion it took on a whole new meaning.

Take it on the Run, by REO Speedwagon.

Abu Ga-rib should have used this twisted high school tripe. Al Quaida would have told them everything.

"Muskrat Love" by Captain and Tenille.

Glad I read down a little to find someone else who posted first.

Well, I was at 7 when I posted but by the time it refreshed I came in late.
