You make a good point but it appears from the graphic that the driver was driving away from the bldg (gym, bottom of graphic), where the dance was being held when he was shot.

Point taken. I do note that there are exposed supports on the other building. I dunno, I would be very wary of any vehicle travelling toward a building and refusing to stop in this day and age.

Yeh...OKC, Columbine, 9/11, Breslan. My impulse is to think the cops over-reacted on this one but I have to factor in things that could have been going thru their minds...like Columbine, the region they're in & the nexus to the 9/11 terrorists, possible internal memos from Homeland Security. And, for that matter, the nature of the school/ enrollment where the dance was being held. There's just too much we don't know for me to come to much of a conclusion.
