We've come a long way in the movies. I can remember seeing Tom Tryon in "The Cardinal." My memory is a bit faded, but his sister, played by Carol Lynley was pregnant out of wedlock and experiencing a life-threatening labor. Because he was the next of kin, he had to make the decision for the doctors to save his sister or her baby. As a priest, he had no choice but to have them save the life of the baby. I was quite young when I saw the film and I remember questioning my mother about his decision. She explained to me that because he was a priest, he could not authorize the taking of a life...that life being the baby's. It is something that has stayed with me for quite a long time and your mentioning the priest and euthanasia in "Million Dollar Baby" brought it all back to me.
Things have been turned upside down for a long time now...it's unbelieveable the PC left wing crap that is written and made into movies.
when we were small, the nuns told us repeatedly that if it were the baby or the mother, the mother would have to go. seemed rather harsh...and they loved scaring us all with it...
