Are you referring to Catholics? Or "Catholics"?

No, the show was laughing at Catholics, not all Christians. One of the characters made a point of saying that he was a Christian, not a Catholic.

This show is desperate to survive. NBC has a lot invested in it. An article anout it in the Sunday NYTs stated that the writers have been instructed to go outside the box to make it work. It is not funny or creative. It will be gone soon.

Catholics are Christians, and the protestant denominations are Christians, we all need to be standing together against these attacks and stop letting denominationalism and nomenclature stand between us. Conservative Jews should be standing with us as well, because they should know and understand that, at the very least, most evangelical Christians, are staunch supporters of them.

Exactly right.

I'd like to hear Michael Medved discuss this on his show.

Michael Medved will be the guest of Raymond Arroyo, tonight at 8pm on EWTN's The World Over Live. I will post a separate thread. There is a link where you may submit a question for Mr. Medved.

I am so glad we have been without cable for the past 4 years. I miss ESPN, but my family has been spared so much trash. There is so little on TV worth watching.

Un-Plug the networks!

I would bet any amount of money that no television network would feature some takeoff on a Muslim religious ceremony. They lack the guts.

Some time ago, I understand that the BBC aired a program that made fun of Jesus. There was little reaction among the Brits, but on the other hand, the producers got death threats from Muslims, who revere Jesus as one of the Prophets. I imagine that they didn't do that again.

The blond lead actress in that show had a small part on another show and seemd like a decent enough actress. However, on Committed, you can tell she's out of her element trying to do comedy with absolutely no sense of timing or ability. I've only seen about 5 minutes of it hoping to see Tom Poston do some magic, but couldn't stand it enough to watch any more.

Poston is the absolute best and it's sad to see him hooked up with crap like this show.

Or, how about Sanji's World--an untouchable from India, arrives in America, wealthy from being the owner of an off-shore IT firm. He still believes African Americans are to be bought and sold like chattle, and goes about trying to acquire "help" for his estate. He watches old Amos & Andy re-runs, and each episode centers around some stereotype associated with them.

Yep. I watched about three minutes of the initial episode. It was worse than awful. This dog will be gone soon.

Ha frickin' ha.

More Catholic bashing by the media elites in Hollywood, and some on Free Republic would give it a pass. Amazing how you don't get it.

At my Grandmother's funeral my half-brother who had never been in a Catholic Church in his life decided to go to communion. Why? Just because. His only "church" experience was to be baptized during vacation bible school in the 7th grade.

It happens more than you think. People don't want to look left out. Others don't think it's a big deal.

During the February 22 episode of the NBC-TV sitcom, “Committed,” two non-Catholics are mistakenly given Holy Communion at a Catholic funeral Mass. Nate, who is Jewish, and Bowie, a Protestant, don’t know what to do with the Eucharist, so they make several failed attempts to get rid of it. For example, they try slipping it into the pocket of a priest, dropping it on a tray of cheese and crackers, etc.

That's not funny at all. Most non-catholics know they are just not supposed to go up and receive. Address, please, I'd like to give them a please on my Catholic mind.

yes it does, unfortunately. A noncatholic I know dismmised it as snobbery@@ I told her I have more respect for other's faith and if something was inclusive to only Protestants in part of a service, I would honor that.

With all due respect, robjna, after the "piss crucifixion" and the statue of Mary smeared with feces which were prominently displayed as "works of art" in a nationally recognized New York art museum (this was before 9/11), there are many Catholics, plus our brothers and sisters of other faiths, who decided that enough was enough and that we could not in good conscience stand idly by while our religious beliefs and practices were held up to public ridicule.

I'm not religeous, but it bothers me when i read articles such as this.Libs are pushing the envelope to see just how far they can take their anti-Christian,anti-family,anti-heterosexual agenda.Take heart. At some point the hammer is gonna come down.Let em keep pushing.
