President Bush continued his European trip today as he spoke in Bratislava, Slovakia to an enthusiastic crowd. The President later met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and both later spoke to the media. The First Couple also gave their best wishes to Pope John Paul II, who is recovering from emergency surgery. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
Happy Anniversary! And Good Night! :o)
I miss him too. He sure did make those press conferences fun to watch. I'm sure Scott's a great guy but he's a little bit dull.
YUP Dubya and Laura are back at People crib I bet Barney and Miss Beazley are pretty happy see their masters LOL!
I was hoping Dubya didn't spend any meal with Illya last time world leader spent a meal with KGB agent or somebody close to him they round up disfigure
gloating.....4 MORE YEARS!
Hi Ohio. lol. I feel the same way....I've got a red, white and blue W on my car window and I want to get one of those 'W Still the President' stickers. I looovveeeee parking next to the dims with the kerry stickers. I wave to passing cars that have Bush/Cheney stickers....my hubby thinks I'm nuts....probably am...but don't care. I'm so proud of this President!
it's 12:06am, so i can officially say,
Happy Birthday!! Enjoy your special day.
"I got one of those in the mail from the White House two days ago, and yes it's a great photo :-)"
What!!! How come I don't have one? I just got done sending the GOP money a couple weeks ago.
What I wanna know is how come I got a different photo from everyone else? I got a picture a couple days ago but that wasn't the one I got.
Darn! I missed the troll too. I got on a little late tonight (I'm supposed to be doing my taxes} I was looking forward to a little troll on the grill with some chianti and fava beans. Maybe next time LOL
""ROTFLOL I think the third photo under #10 is W having a laugh on the press. It looks as if both he and Pooty-poot are posing for the "I looked into his eyes and saw his soul" statement""
You know, in Karen Hughes book, Ten Minutes from Normal, she said that when she looked into Putin's eyes, she saw an endless black pit. I dearly love George W, but I think Karen is more accurate as to the state of Putin's soul.
That has happened to me too. While some people got a photo of GW in the flight suit, I got one of George and Laura at the ranch. It is a nice picture, but it's not fair.
Some people got a picture of Dubya in the flight suit? When did that happen? Why did I miss it? NO FAIR! I WANT DUBYA IN THE FLIGHT SUIT!!! I'm gonna go sit in a corner and sulk.
Well, Dubya never said what kind of soul he saw when he looked into those eyes. He may have seen that black pit too. FWIW, I feel sorry for Pooty. I think he is lonely and unhappy. I think he probably really likes George W. simply because W. calls him friend.
Sorry ilovew, but ohioWfan is in charge of the flight suit and I think she has retired for the evening.
Ilovew yea, I heard some of the men got the flight suit ones.
He has said in the past that you can get a sense of a person's soul when you look into their eyes. Now either Putin is very good at deceivery (which I am sure he is, being a former KGB person) or GW didn't look deep enough!!
I don't feel sorry for him. In fact I think he is dangerous. He has thrown people in jail just for not agreeing with him. He is very power hungry. I don't think we need to be trusting him at all.
Putin is actually a very religious man. From what I have read he does have a deep faith. Maybe this is what GW sees in his soul, and he would certainly be a man to recognize that sort of thing. Perhaps GW feels he needs a little help and encouragement to make that faith influence his leadership. I trust that GW saw some goodness in the man that is worth cultivating and encouraging. Here is an exerpt from an article on Putin that is pretty interesting...
Putins sermon
On 23 August 2001 Putin visited several Russian Orthodox monasteries including the 15th-century Solovetski monastery whilst on vacation in the northwest of the country. "Situated on the Solovetski archipelago in the western part of the White Sea, the monastery is a point of pilgrimage for many Orthodox believers. Patriarch Aleksei II, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church , greeted Putin and showed him around, later presenting the President with a wooden cross. Speaking to the press during his visit, Putin delivered something approaching a sermon on the importance of religion in public life."
To make it clear which religion he was referring to, Putin, "quoted the words of the 11th-century church leader Metropolitan Illarion, who once said God had saved all nations. If so, Putin said, all nations are equal in the eyes of God. This simple truth, he added, has made it possible to build a strong multiethnic state. The President went on to say that without Christianity, Russia would not have become an accomplished state. He said it is important for Russia to return to this source now, at a time when we are finding ourselves again and seeking moral foundations to life. Putins heavily religious tone would have come as no surprise to those accustomed to seeing the Russian president in an Orthodox Church or hearing stories of his deep religious faith."
Putins conversion
Putin is said to have undergone a "conversion" after rescuing his two young daughters from a burning dacha four years ago. Another story says that his spiritual journey began after his mother gave him a cross, which he then blessed at a holy site in Jerusalem. In an interview with CNN last year, Putin himself told a story of how workers found the little cross lying in the ashes of his burned-down dacha. He claims to keep it with him at all times....

Thanks so much for the great pictures. Speaking of snow! Looks like there was plenty of it in Russia! Love the picture of GW kissing the older woman. *sigh* I want one too! Gotta to to work in the morning so can't stay around for the evening (well, actually it is after midnight here) but will check in tomorrow afternoon. You, and the other picture-posters do such a wonderful job! You give us a better feel for things than the TV does, who only go for teeny little sound bites!
Welcome home, DrDeb .. so sad for the reason you were gone. God's Blessings of healing peace to you and your family.
