The folks who believe that he broke a lot of her bones before this incident could remove that guardianship if they could prove it, but that's an impossible task.

In my opinion, Michael holds the winning cards in the legal battle. Hopefully something new will transpire to change those legal odds.

One major problem has been that the only people with full access to Terri's medical records have been the ones who wanted her dead. But IIRC Felos et al. just did a "document dump" on the Schindler's lawyer, probably figuring there'd be no way he'd sort through boxes of unsorted papers in time to make any difference. I think he got too cocky.

Do you think that this just might be the place where the DCF entered the picture? A result of those papers?

That's surprising to me. I would have thought her medical records would have been the first thing discoverable under these legal proceedings.
