I suspect that Michael Schiavo is receiving a very large sum of money to stay the course in insisting that Terri's feeding tube be removed. It is possible that he did cause her injuries and fears her rehabilitation. However, there are people of very great financial means and political and social influence who see this case as a "wedge" for euthanasia. If the influence of the Catholic Church and other pro-life forces can be defeated in what is essentially political combat, the pro-euthanasia victory can be used to further that agenda not only in Florida, but nationwide. The precedent may even be useful in Canada and other English-speaking countries, even historically Catholic Ireland.
Michael and Terri Schiavo, like Norma McCorvey and her aborted child in Texas 30 years ago, are pawns in a greater game of reducing the level of protection offered to helpless human life.

Well said Wallace. This FIGHT HAS to be brutal and bloody because IF these evil folks are permitted to kick this door to euthanasia open, it will open the flood gates such has never been seen since the NAZI's did it!! I'm all for paving the way of our actions with prayer FIRST but I, repeat, I, am of the opinion that this situation, barring a miracle which is possible with our God, will require CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE. Terri Schiavo must absolutely be snatched out of the jaws of death. God has NOT called her home and only HE can.

If Teri is starved and dehydrated, the establishment of precedent in this case, will be of incalcuable assistance to the pro-death forces to be sure.

Not to change the subject, but I understood that McCorvey never did abort that baby after all. I think she gave it up for adoption.

Michael and Terri Schiavo, like Norma McCorvey and her aborted child in Texas 30 years ago...I'm fairly certain that Ms. McCorvey did not abort that child. She has also become quite pro-life--her change of heart is a very amazing story. You are right in that Ms. McCorvey was a pawn, and things she has written make me believe that she believes so, too. Michael, however, is no pawn. He is a willing participant, doing everything he can to foist upon us this brave new world where the less than perfect are not forced to live their obviously miserable lives.
