Not if the Queen can help it.

I read once in a text book (published in the 1860's)that after Edward II abdication and Hugh Despenser was executed in 1326, Parliament passed a law that a Despenser family member could never become king. I believe this is William's lineage.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Queen outlived both Charles and Camilla?

RE: 9, clearly Lady Diane had a positive influence on the bloodline.

I don't know....To me, British royalty is like the "flag" wearing a bad hat.

Huh? I think she does look alot like Diana. It's the same look & eyes. There isn't that much imagination needed.

Even is the Queen does not attend does she not have to give her permission for Charles to marry? If so, it seems that her attendance is neither here nor there in terms of importance. It does not automatically mean that Charles will not become King. If he married without permission it would sure present some problems.

"However, there is a precedent in which the heir can be designated in a will. "

Would that be Edward VI? Wasn't he talked into designating his cousin Lady Jane Gray as his successor while on his deathbed?

I do think it is rather unfair for folks to compare Charles with William. William is a young man. Who knows what choices he will make during the next thirty years of his life.

"She is Commander in Chief of the military forces and the civil government answers to her. She has the power to dissolve the government and call for elections and she can simply fire the Prime Minister if she so desires"

Wow...when Arnie hears this he will be righteously peeved

Diana and Lillie resemble one another, IMO.

Especially their eyes.

The eyes for sure.
Stunning similarity.

That's good. How about His Highness, the Small Emergency Backup King?

BTW, I think the queen would be wise to pass over Charles. He could end the monarchy. As an American, royalty means little to me, but it would be hard for any of the former Royal family to actually work for a living. Right now they make a lot of money acting goofy and having people write about them. Kind of like Madonna or Jennifer Anniston.

The Queen may well outlive them. Has anyone considered the possibility that Camilla is ill? She is a heavy smoker. It would explain the announcement and the speed with which the ceremony is to be performed.

Well, I guess Wills will stay out of the New Forest.... and I'm not so sure William IV was so wonderful....

I always thought Charles had all the faults of Edward VIII and none of his virtues (were there any?).... or perhaps the faults of John Lackland and none of his virtues...
